So one day I was having Shower-Thoughts &#xae and I suddenly realize that most things I fantasize/imagine are in the third-person I.e. I view myself/the protagonist from a floating, third-person view rather than placing my awareness inside them.

So do you guys imagine things from a first-person or a third-person view when imagining things? Or perhaps you imagine things from a second-person view? Maybe you spice things up an go for an alternating-view...

Definitions (Shower-Thought &#xae patents pending):
First-Persion: You are the "main character", using thoughts like "I" and view the situation from your limited perspective, just like real life.

Second-Person: You narrate the fantasy as though speaking to yourself, I.E. "You wake up, confused, bullshit ensues..." I'm not sure if you view from a first-person or a third-person perspective because this is the rarest perspective and you're probably weird for thinking like this. <.<'

Third-Person: You view the situation as though a third person judging events. You are not limited to what the characters in your fantasy see/know. You may be limited to a single character's knowledge or you may be omnipotent, giggling at how stupid your Imagination Avatar looks because he's too shy to grow some balls and ask out that girl who he's been crushing on cause he thinks she wouldn't be interested but she just plays it cool when he's around to try to impress him or something...

Alternating-Person: You jump back-and-forth between a limited first-person view and an all-knowing third-person view because you are spoiled and selfish and just can't be satisfied with sticking to a single perspective like the rest of us.

I never really thought about that until just now...

I would say third-person but even then, I don't really see "myself" as the protagonist. In fact, now that you're making me try to picture it, I don't know what the person I am imaging doing all those awesome things looks like. I know it's not me...

Damn, even my imagination thinks I'm too lame to dream about doing cool things :(

I just imagined that you look like Slenderman when imagining things. :(

Almost always third person... I blame video games.

My dreams are mostly in first person though *shrugs*

I'm sure there's a good Freudian explanation for this somewhere.

Both, I alternate depending on the 'situation'. If I am imagining myself doing something cool (because I know full well that I probably wouldn't actually be doing it myself) then I am more likely to imagine it with a 3rd person view. More real life/every day sorts of situations are imagined in either, it's a 50-50.

Most commonly (I'd say about 75% of the time) in third person, but I will occasionally slip in to first or even second person.

Hm, I fantasize about things in the third person mostly, and I believe I've always dreamed in the first person. I can't really imagine dreaming in third person, that would be weird.

Second person, as a fan of Film Noir I love the whole narration thing and will often narrate the story like that to myself not to mention that I imagine everything like a scene in a movie or something.

Thinking...mostly 3rd person with the occasional 1st[footnote] Or not, I'm not sure. Could be 50/50. Who's askin'? You a cop?![/footnote]for both fantasies and dreams. For 3rd person, it's weird, I'm usually never directly behind myself. I'm usually positioned seeing myself SE a foot feet away. I'm never directly in front of or behind myself.

Can't really say, I'm too embarrassed
