That sort of fear is not conducive to a healthy online community.
I actually mentioned in my post in the last thread about moderation, how common these threads have become recently.
I assume it's just the vocal minority.

I haven't personally been hit for anything here yet (even though I probably should have), so I'm not complaining.

Like I say, vocal minority.

I post what I think is acceptable and I honestly don't care even a bit about what the mods think. I've gotten quite a few infractions here on the escapists because the mods and article authors can't handle the truth.
God knows how many times I called out the author of some anti-Nintendo article where the author writes obvious lies and I've gotten infractions for that. Ya know, apparently people can't handle it if you tell them the truth, that they aren't journalists if they don't check the source or the credibility of it.

And God forbid you tell something bad about the community and the circlejerk going on here.

I voted for B. because on other forums people don't get offended when you call them out on their bullshit. But I don't fear the ban hammer even on the escapist where I do get infractions occasionally.

What are you saying exactly? That opinions don't count unless shared by the majority? This is what happens when people learn a phrase and carry on using it without any regard for what it actually suggests.

No, I'm not saying that at all.

Recently, we've had thread after thread after thread, complaining about the moderation here and/or insulting the mods.
I'm suggesting that these people who are unhappy with how this site is moderated are simply the vocal minority.

Because if they're NOT the vocal minority, and it so happens that the MAJORITY of users here are unhappy with the moderation, then that means the moderation has failed this community, and needs a complete overhaul.

That's cool. Thanks for clarifying your position. I'd regretted posting what I did immediately anyways. Just seemed argumentative on my part.

Whatever forum I'm on, I always check what I'm writing and try to be as considerate as possible of the forum rules. So no, I don't fear the hammer. Staying away from politics/flame/troll treads also helps.

B

I post on a few forums and while I am one to chime in from time to time, and even feed trolls, I typically don't post anything that would incur the wrath of a ban hammer. Even if I get into a full-on debate, I try and argue my point tactfully and as respectfully as the situation allows. Different boards have different limits, tho, so something that I post elsewhere might not fly here.

All our threads have come
Here but now they're locked
Posters don't fear the hammer
Nor do the wind, the sun or the rain
We can be like they are

Come on baby... Don't fear the Hammer
Baby take my ban... Don't fear the Hammer
We'll be able to fly... Don't fear the Hammer
Baby I'm your man...

Usergroups are fun
Here but now they're gone
Clarion and Evil Smurf
Are together in eternity...
Clarion and Evil Smurf

40,000 men and women everyday... (Like Clarion and Evil Smurf)
40,000 men and women everyday... (Redefine happiness)
Another 40,000 posting everyday...(We can be like they are)

Come on baby... Don't fear the Hammer
Baby take my ban... Don't fear the Hammer
We'll be able to fly... Don't fear the Hammer
Baby I'm your man...

Love of Pub is one
Here but now they're gone
Came the last night of sadness
And it was clear we couldn't go on
The door was open and Nasrin appeared
The candles blew and then disappeared
The curtains flew and then she appeared
Saying don't be afraid

Come on baby... And we had no fear
And she ran to him... Then they started to fly
We looked backward and said goodbye
We had become like they are
She had taken his ban
We had become like they are

Come on baby...don't fear the Hammer

I'm not sure why I'm in that song.

I do not fear the banhammer.

I respect it, there's a difference.
That's exactly the reason I put you in that song. That, and you had a three syllable name I could use in place of Romeo. I couldn't think of anyone else besides Evil Smurf that had 3 syllables for their username. And you two are pretty well known amongst the regulars here.

B for me. Strict as the moderation may seem at times compared to other forums, it seems like you still have to be a Class-A, seafaring knob-end to incur enough penalties to be banned/suspended. Besides, I like it this way, on other forums I go to, people jump down your throat at the slightest provocation (usually saying that you like anything), I prefer to avoid that.

Hell, even if I was banned, I'm such a lurker it wouldn't affect me much.

I'll admit that I do fear it a bit.
I've always been good here in the forums, maybe a touch passive agressive and a bit touchy when it comes to games publishers and consumer rights - but on the whole, the ban-hammer has never struck me or even been waved in my general direction.

Though having said all that, I can remember the days when this forum was rather banhammer happy. But even now, the mere waving of the ban-hammer is enough to make me clench my bum-cheeks in fear.

The mods here are generally harsher than other sites, mostly that is for the better but it's a bit sad when some R'n'P regular gets banned. Got one warning for low content when I first posted here, other than that nothing.

Still not as harsh as Teamliquid though.

To be perfectly honest, I've only ever been wary of the dreaded banhammer when replying on here.

i dont get worried much because what I post online is about the same as what I would say to a person face to face.
I dont see the point of pissing other people off regardless of the medium I am using

I always fear that I'll slip, and bring the relaxed attitude of the european forums I visit, when in the american forums.

I've been hit by it and came back. Try me.

But seriously kinda I guess? This is my main hangout so I'd feel kinda shitty if it happened again and the appeal didn't work but I'd find another place.
