Poll: Do you Fear the Religion and Politics forum?

I lurk there a lot, occasionally post if I see something that interests me. It's a little worse for flames than Off-Topic and definitely has a higher ban rate per average member but it's fine if you avoid insulting other people's beliefs or making ridiculously certain statements like "[insert political or religious ideology here] is the only way!"

Yes I post there often and I find it a joyous experience, though I was taken aback at how quick everyone is to dismiss any uncommon views as trolling.

I've seen you there quite often. Aren't you our resident...socialist? Not a Communist, I don't think--even with you tendency towards Communist avatars.

I view myself as a communist actually, and funny thing that, I switched to Koba when I became a convinced communist. I switch to Lenin, and then one day I come here and find that the Lenin picture was removed. No word of why though if the admins or mods or whatever prefer Koba then who am I to argue. I think it was a few weeks back.

OT: Do you find yourself tying into it with others--or others trying to pick quarrels with you--simply because of your communistic beliefs? "Hey, it's Istvan--he's a commie! Let's gang pounce on him!" Anything like that?

Or do you have an easier time of it? Personally I've often wondered if you were just pulling peoples' legs by holding such different points of view. No offense meant, by the by.

Congratulations on you cancer remission, by the way!!! My mom's had and survived mouth cancer twice (she used to smoke) so I know what a stresser being diagnosed with the Big C can be.

Off-Topic: What kind did you have, may I ask? Did you have to undergo radiation therapy? My mom did and it left her weak as a kitten. I had to take care of her for months--and early on it was hard just to get her strong enough to walk again--though part of that was because she was elderly and fairly feeble to begin with.

Off Topic: I had (have, you're not officialy cclean until your clean for 5 years I believe) Hodgekins Lymphoma, which is pretty much 'easy mode' for cancer (it has the highest recovery chance), if you get there early. However I went for all the achievements as well, so we didn't catch it until stage IV.
First chemo didn't get rid of it all, so we tried radiotherapy after that, and then that also didn't work so we ended up doing the 'nuke it from orbit' chemo (destroying most of my imune system in the process). That seems to have worked. Today is my one year anyversary from being discharged from the hospital after that treatment.

Ouch! And I thought that my mother had it bad when the radiation treatments skewered her taste buds and knocked out 3/4 of her saliva glands! We were worried that the loss of her saliva glands would lead to her losing all her teeth (which happens, apparently, when your mouth can no longer lubricate/clean your teeth continuously with saliva).

On the plus side she's recovered even from most of that. If you lost all your hair (or something) then hopefully you too will fully recover.

I check in from time to time. R&P is one of my sources for current events and I usually read up on issues there before my other news sources report on them. Don't contribute though as debating is not my strong point and I'm still forming my views about most issues, think I may have posted in a thread on region once a long while ago but that's about it.

I think there's a person or two who enjoy stating their differences with me but overall I think it stems more from a significant and unusual amount of difference of opinion than trolling. Capitalists are essentially forgetting that alternatives exist, and why, thus making it infuriating that someone would question them.

I think many people have a hard time with R&P because they go into it hoping to change minds and expecting nobody to try to change theirs. Many treat it as a game rather than a place to state your own opinion. I have an easy time on the board as I don't expect it to be important that I change minds now, it'll come by itself in time.
