No. I don't feel insulted, but I don't agree with them either. I dislike the whole social labelling thing.

Not really. Insults never really get to me nowadays, usually I laugh at their pathetic means to try and get under my skin.

No. Two reasons for this.

1) I came to terms with the fact that I'm a nerd years ago.

2) I'm an engineer. And a nerd. And it's combinations like that that run the world nowadays.

I think that now the problem is that games in particular are becoming more mainstream, the geek culture is getting harder to hide behind. It's still a badge I wear proudly

I admit to being a geek because of my interests (science, tech, movies, etc.), but to label anyone who plays video games a "nerd" is just stupid nowadays.

Most of my friends are goths/metalheads, and while I do love the music, I don't feel the need to dress in black, paint my nails, and get piercings. Because of that they don't consider me a goth, but I've been called a nerd a couple of times. It doesn't bother me.

No.
Outside of people I play games with, nobody really knows I play games, because I have other things to talk about.
So there's really no reason for anyone to call me a nerd.

Same here, and most people say my appearance doesn't really fit the bill of a gamer. What ever that means...

And if someone does call me a ners my usual response is "yeah well your a..." (fag, douchebad, asshole, *****...) whatever, take your pick.

I rarely get called a geek, for a number of reasons. Mainly because I play rugby, and am twice the size of most people in my school, but also because gaming is a completely acceptable thing in my school, and most people own a PS3 or an xBox 360 and play them frequently. The few that do get called geeks, are normally the people that talk about nothing but were to find skulls in Halo, and how through playing Assassins Creeds they think they could kill someone in our school and no one would know it was them.

Not really. I eventually came to realize that being a nerd was a good thing. And no one's ever commented on my playing video games.
