Depends if it's racist or not, most of the time it's just stereotyping. BIG DIFFERENCE.

See, racism is always done out of hatred. If I was to make a Black Joke about Watermelon and Chicken, it's not racist. I'm simply playing off of a stereotype.

So no, it's not wrong. Now if someone generally hated a race and made fun of that race playing it off as a joke, then yes it is wrong. Sometimes it's hard to tell the difference, but you'll know when someone's being racist and when someone's stereotyping.

A racist joke is only in bad taste when someone is offended.
It's not a good joke UNTIL someone is offended...
I'm sorry, but I can't intentionally try to look like an asshole (not trying to insult you). Not even on the internet (believe me, I tried).
You get used to it, you may even learn to like it.
When I say "I tried" I meant I played Rainbow Six: Vegas, went to a foreign server (so nobody would understand me) and left with a friend request.

Only if it's not serious. If it's just something like (this is just an example of a racist joke, do not take it serious) "Yo mamma is like a brick: She's dirty, She's flat on all sides, and she gets laid by mexicans."
It's not funny becaause of the punch at Mexican people, it's funny because it's absurd. It's stupid. Absurd and stupid things are funny. Another example, I have blond hair and blue eyes, so my occasional nickname at school is Nazi. I think it's funny not because of the Nazis, they were evil bastards and the majority of them are burning in hell, but because it's absurd. I can say with no ego that I'm a generally nice guy, fun to be around, good sense of humor, supportive of my friends, and I am, if I do say so myself, generally attractive. Even my teachers think it's funny because of the clashing colors of "Evil discriminating Nazi" and "Sweet old loveable Dalton"

Most of the time, yes. If its all in good fun, especially if its made by the gender/race the joke is mauling. It is slightly funnier still in a narcissistic way when someone is serious.

Sexism and racism are just flaws of humanity, and the fact that people still support them is a joke in itself.

I voted on the second choice. I don't think racism is funny, but it's the closest choice I've got. I find the concept of racism funny, just because of how ridiculous it is, but not racism itself.

I find it funny how it's never racism or sexism when it's against whites or men. I suppose because they were always the biggest jerks in history.
No, it's more because we don't care.

I find such humour incredibly amusing, even the serious ones. For example I find Jim Davidson hillarious, because no one is safe. His stereotypes are over the top and whether he's actually racist/sexist or not doesn't matter to me, I just find them funny.

The only time comedians who use the race card annoy me, is when they are up themselves about it, forcing the point that they are a certain race so it's ok for THEM to say these things. There is a certain Asian comedienne who does this alot although I can't remember her name. Every line she starts off with "I'm Asian so as a result blah blah blah" which just isn't funny, it's overly PC preaching.

Just for the record, I love it when white guys get taken the piss out of too, the stereotypes made about us by other classes/races are brilliant and like al stereotypes have a basis in truth, which is what makes these things funny because we can relate to them. Everyone knows the stereotypes about black people, Irish, Scottish, Americans, Brits, French whoever, and in our lives we've all seen aspects of them. Most people know an overly angry Scotsman or a pissed up Irish guy or a girl who generally gets drunk alot and tries to get attention. It's not racist to laugh at these things.

It's more because 'white' isn't a race so much as a class in the western world.

Personally I do, though not unless genuine hatred of the subject matter is implied. The best jokes are the ones that everyone can accept and enjoy on their own personal terms.

Now this might be a stretch and bad taste for some, though I cannot help my dirty, young mind to go flashbacking to this scene whenever the subject of racism/stereotypes/prejudice comes to mind. It seems the ultimate justification of acknowledged racist symbols blown to such unbelieveable proportions is enough to disregard the apperent-subliminal feelings involved, knowing that now it's all in "good fun".

If that's not for you however, I don't recommend you click below.

Warning: Pretty explicit content/language involved.

Blazing Saddles is a perfect example. It is really funny but show's the ignorance of the racists portrayed in the film.

Racism and Sexism in general aren't funny, but a good joke is a good joke regardless of who it offends.

That may be true, but I still think that any people who decide to not care, will no longer be affected by verbal racism.

You failed to provide a valid poll option for a simple "No."
Yep, wasn't enough poll room. I also messed up the female version of the poll. Silly copy pasta!

EDIT: Why is there no "I am racist" option for females?
Yeah, that's my bad and for some reason the escapist won't let me change it. Its showing two option 8's rather than an edit button for editing it.

Just pretend the female options go the same way as males do. I was silly and copy pasta'ed incorrectly.
