Simple question. Do you play one game more than once if you've already finished? If so what is the reason? Do you get all the achievements then put it away? Do you just enjoy the gameplay? Do you love the story so much that you want to keep playing it? Or do you simply just think one playthrough is enough? Personally I'm a 100% type of guy but if the story is good I'll play the game over and over. What about you lot?

A bit of the mix for the games I do it for. One of my Dragon Age: Origins' playthroughs was just to get achievements, while the other ten were a mix of "love the story" and "great gameplay". Other than Dragon Age, most games I would have replayed would have been when I was younger, mostly due to lack of money to purchase new games. I know I beat Advent Rising, Armed and Dangerous, Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath, Halo 2, Gears of War, and quite a few others at least five times each. Nowadays, I have more money than I do free-time to play games, so my backlog just keeps building and building. Doesn't leave much time for replaying.

Depends on the game. Some games make me want to replay them immediately, some make me want to play through again later, and others I'll wait ages until I semi-forget playing through it. Depends how dynamic the game is, choices, if it has different playstyles, if I can see new content, so on.

Obviously, I generally have to like the game, also.

None of these options really allow me a proper response.

I do replay games, but not terribly often, and it tends to take me a long time to get through them unless they really hook me in. The last game I beat and then immediately played again was Ori and the Blind Forest, mostly for the sake of achievements (I still need four, oh well). I've replayed Deus Ex: Human Revolution, the Batman: Arkham games, Mirror's Edge, Darksiders, the Devil May Cry franchise, the Halo franchise, Dragon Age, Mass Effect, Banjo-Kazooie, the Sonic the Hedgehog games, and many others. But then there are far too many games I've played for 30-60 minutes, said, "Yeah, this is cool, I'll have to play it some more," and to date haven't picked up again yet.

Yes if I enjoyed the game first time I'll often have another playthrough.Particularly if there's branching story paths or alternate endings

depends entirely on the type of game. if it's a game with (subjectively) great/enjoyable stories and characters, then I will probably play it again at least once if not more.

if it's a game that was fun the first time but it's only redeeming features are its setting and achievements, then probably will be a one and done game.

Totally depends on the game, but if I like it I'll always try to go back and replay it. The main rule of thumb is "am I enjoying what I'm doing?". If I am I'll play, if I aint I won't. That goes for side-quests, achievements, whatever.

Dragon Age: Origins, Mass Effect 1, X-Com EW, The Witcher 2 etc. - all example of games which have SO much fun in depth I've completed them well into double figures.

But then there's you're Mass Effect 2's, Batman Arkham Asylum's etc. which are great games, but don;t hold enough "freshness" or surprizes when replaying.

With games for me it is the same as books. I will SOMETIMES, very rarely, play it twice. Most games I'll pick up, play once, decide that's cool, and then leave it be. Hell, half the games I play I don't finish because they bore me. If the game has shown me everything it has to offer after the first playthrough, and that everything wasn't fucking amazing, odds are I'm not playing it again.

If there's more to see [And a significant 'more to see' thing, not "Oh, you could have gone left instead of right to lead to the exact same thing" bullshit] then I'll play them again, but still only if they're good. If there's not more to see, that game better have blown me away in some way for me to play it again.
If I want to 100% something I'll just load a save from right before the beginning, then walkthrough the shit out of it to get everything. Hell, a lot of the time I do that right before the end anyway just 'cause I'm very much a completionist.

So, in general, no. But sometimes, if there's a gem of a game, or a lot the game has left to show me, then yes. I'll play it again.

Most of them only once, needs to be something really exciting to do it several times. Usually I'll go back to play expansions or some really cool mods, other then that it's all been seen so there is no more reason to do it again, especially not for achievement horseshit.

For starters, there are very few games I've actually "completed".
It might have something to do with my preference for sandbox games like DF, Darkout, Anno 1404, 4X's, etc.

Those I have completed though I've replayed several times. Freelancer and Beyond Good & Evil comes to mind.
Oh, and Diablo I/II, EV Nova, Arcanum and VtM:B and Deus Ex...

I never do it because I want to 100% it and I actually get both miffed and excited if they include achievements.
I replay it because it's fun.
And sometimes varied enough to be interesting.
Or I can't find any enjoyment in any other game at the moment.

It depends on whether I liked the game, how long it took me to beat it the first time, and how much incentive there is to play it again.

I do replay games, sometimes I've already done everything, but still enjoy the story. I might put the game away for a year then break it out again just so I can go through the story again. I don't do this for every game, but I do for a fair few of them (one factor in this is how long the story is, if it's something huge like Dragon Age or Skyrim, I might only play it once).

Since the advent of achievements, I don't think I've voluntarily played a single game more than once. Even in the Borderlands series (one of my absolute favorites) I've never got more than one character per game to level cap.

I used to replay games all the time when I was younger, but not so much anymore. Probably because I have a lot more games to play these days so even the newer games that I really like rarely get a second playthrough. I do crack out some of my old favourites fairly regularly however.

There are a few games I've replayed after completion because I enjoyed them so much and wanted to experience them again. In fact, before steam, I replayed games a lot more, mostly because I didn't have a massive backlog but also because some games aren't very long. Old Lucasarts Adventure games could be finished in about 4 to 5 hours, especially when you'd already beaten them once.

OTOH, I've played through all of the Saints Row games(excluding 1) numerous times and still have fun with them.

Also, Poll needs "If it's good enough" option.
