Poll: Do you finish games more than once?

If they are good enough, i'll play it again to 100% it. While i would say that i'd still play a game again if it was REALLY good and i 100% it already, I have yet to ever go back to a game i've completed 100%.

The ONLY exception to this I can imagine is in co-op games, as runs usually feel completely different depending on who you play with.

If I ever replay a game, it means that game is special enough to me that I can enjoy it a second time. This is the reason I tend to avoid single-player games though. I never make alts in MMOs for this same reason.

It really depends on the game. I've spent countless hours on the Mass Effect Trilogy, and I still play Mega Man X off and on after 20 years. If a game can pull me in I can sink tons of time into it. The most recent example is Hyrule Warriors, in which I have currently logged over 235 hours.

Nowadays it's a very select few games that are able to keep me invested for longer than my initial play-through, some games I don't even make it that far. Unfortunately there aren't many games nowadays that catch my interest at all.

No. Well, maybe if it's been longer than a decade and the game was exceptional. There are far too many good games to play and too little time to waste on playing games which I have already experienced. And when I get to the stage where I have finished all those good games and there are none left, I'll spend that time outside, not replaying old memories.

I generally prefer games that can be played multiple times or after the credit-ending or I generally don't like them. If I were truly interested in merely the story aspect of the game, there are youtube cuts that play the major cutscenes like a movie.

I have no interest in achievements. Those things seem like a really tacky add-on to games that caught on and I don't really know why.

Yeah, but the game play has to be fluent and have a little bit more to it, or it has to offer something else that's awesome, which I don't believe has happened with me yet. I've only come back for story when I forgot what happened a while ago, otherwise it's never as great as people say, but I haven't played them all yet.

when I was a kid I used to do this probably because games were expensive and you didnt mind hearing the same story over and over.
Now games are dirt cheap and I realy dont have time to waste to experience the same story more than once. dont even watch movies /series more than once.

I have replayed games for various reasons, sometimes of course simply because I like it. I will list some below:
- Because I unlocked a badass gun/armor, and want to romp through it (Resident Evils, Dead Space 2)
- Play the game on varying polarities of moral choices (Mass Effect, KotOR)
- Because it's awesome (HL2, Rainbow 6: Vegas)
- To hit various difficulties to challenge myself (Devil May Cry, Bayonetta)
- Play as a different character/skillset (Jade Empire, Diablo, Vampire Bloodlines)
- Get a different ending (Bioshock, Fallout(s))

My answer: it depends. If the game is fun or engaging enough (like Portal) or has an interesting alternate way to play (like Mass Effect series) I'll play them more than once.

I only do that if i really like the game, that being said i have beaten the newest Wolfenstein 3 times and Saints Row IV 3 or 4 times. Before that there was Skyrim(i don't think that i ever even finished the main quest on that one) and Fallout 3, Dragon age: Origins, Mass Effect 2.
Judging from my own choices of games i suppose Customisation and branching storylines had a lot to do with replayability for me.

I wish most of my N64 games had a time counter like Steam does. On second thought...it might be best not to know how much time I've spent on that thing growing up.

A game has to be REALLY good for me to want to replay it though. A few games that I replay now and again:

Usually, finishing a game once is good for me. If I really liked it, I'll wait several years so it's totally fresh and then replay it. There's a pretty big gap between playthroughs even with my favorites! I've beaten the Kingdom Hearts series and Resident Evil 4 a whole bunch of times, but it's been really spread out over the years.

The only thing that can really make me replay a game right away is crazy New Game+ bonuses, or some way to drastically change the story. (Like, if there are different routes you can go on or what have you!)

Depends on the game but yes. Some games I will play multiple times. Sometimes to pick a different course of the story, but sometimes just because I enjoy the hell out of it.

I played inFamous 1 at least 6 times, and always went good guy, because i just love the game. There have been other games, can't think of them, but yeah, I play games multiple times for fun.

All a game needs to do to have me replay it is to be good. And if I can sit through the entire game to see your ending, chances are I thought it was good.

I've replayed several games, but for very different reasons. I replay Mario games because they're just fun to play and it's amusing to see how fast I can get through them on a second or third try. I replayed Mass Effect 1 because I wanted to see how different things could play out if I made different choices, and then have a different save file to copy into Mass Effect 2 but also so I could find shit I missed the first time (which is really easy to do, since the game isn't keen on telling you where sh*t is, pretty much requiring you to wander around aimlessly for at least some time). I don't play Mass Effect 1 for the gameplay though, because that sh*t is NOT fun, I'd even go so far as call it bad 85% of the time. Mass Effect 2 on the other hand, I replay for both the reasons listed on Mass Effect 1 and the gameplay, since this game is actually pretty fun to play. For games like Virtue's Last Reward and The Wolf Among US, which are heavy on story and light on mechanics, I replay them to see if the stories hold up and there isn't some giant plot-hole I missed the first time around, but also because they're fun stories to follow. And finally there's games like Half-Life 2, MGS3 and Bastion, which are just very fun from both a story and gameplay perspective.

I used to play games over & over. Starting with Dungeon Siege 2 & ES: Oblivion, I've not only gotten into the habit of only playing a game once, no matter how much the nostalgia part of my brain nags me to revisit old grounds, but playing MMOs has gotten me into the worse habit of simply not finishing games before moving onto something else. I've grown used to looking at games as "it's never going to end, so why bother?" & even though this doesn't apply to single player games, my brain will just loose interest in a game after awhile, no matter how much fun I was having.

Here's the part I don't get...It doesn't apply to television. I will avoid watching a movie for 5 to 10 years if I remember it to well & only watch it if I've forgotten enough of it, but I will rewatch the same episodes of a TV show 3 times a year if it happens to be on.

If it's a good game that gives me reason to replay then yeah, I've replayed games numerous times in the past. I also re-watch my favourite movies and re-read my favourite books, sometimes it's just nice to settle down with something familiar yet enjoyable.

Not too often, but I do occasionally replay a franchise. Last year I replayed all the Gears games back to back in chronological (not release) order. I replay Half Life 1 and it's expansions about once a year. This year I did it a bit diferent by using the Trusty HD packs and playing some of the better and more sizeable mod campaigns, like Residual Point and Azure Sheep.

I intend to replay the Metal Gear series soon in preparation for 5 now I have the HD Metal Gear collection, never played the Subsistence version of 3 and Peace Walker on the big screen will be great.
