The TV was on while I was off in the kitchen when I heard it...

"Hold onto your butts"

Jurassic Park? Why is a Jurassic Park trailer on TV? Oh...a 3D re-release...*sigh...awesome...I guess...

This got me wondering...who goes to see these movies? If only I were a member of something that allowed me to ask a group of people a question to get their response. Days went by and then I finally realized I could ask The Escapist!

So what is your take on 3D re-releases? Do you go see them? If so, is it only movies you haven't seen, only movies you absolutely love, or do you shun all 3D like everyone's favorite red-shirt-and-creepy-stare avatar Tippy2K2?

"No for another reason"

I won't say it sucks but it's just not my thing. Especially for rereleases. Now, a new movie, especially animated one - yeah, but I just don't fancy live action ones and "remastered" editions. Other people do, so they should go right ahead for all I care.

Nope, I prefer regular over 3D movies. -.-

3D doesn't hurt my eyes or anything, it just isn't as good to look at IMO.

No, I can't see the 3D very well and if I do strain and focus on it then it hurts my eyes. I also hate wearing glasses over my glasses, so I'll stick to 2D.

No, the only movies I'm willing to watch in 3D are movies that were made specifically to be watched in 3D, like Avatar. If a movie gets re-released in 3D that means all the 3D was done in post, meaning that the 3D is going to be mediocre at best, or absolutely terrible and useless at worst. No point in paying more money to see an inferior version of the movie.

I just don't like 3D, period. It doesn't work very well for me, and when it does it gives me a migraine. Not cool, bro.

I am super excited to see Jurassic Park in the theater again. I am much less excited about it being 3d, and really wish it was just a normal re-release. 3d is distracting and slightly headache-inducing, but I'd deal with it if the movie is good enough.

I voted "Yes for another reason"... because I get to see them for free at press showings :p
Most of them still suck though.

I'll watch 3D in cinemas but only for films I really like or want to see, for example I loved Avatar, The Polar Express, Toy Story 3, The Hobbit and Hugo as they were all designed with 3D in mind, it's the ones in post that I don't like.

Unless it's a film I absolutely love that was released before I was born (like Blade Runner or The Good, the Bad and the Ugly), then I won't ever go see a re-release in theatres regardless of whether it's in 3D or not.

Pretty much this for me as well. Also, I don't feel like paying such a high price, especially for a movie that I already own and can watch at my leisure. Sitting with 3D glasses on for a full length feature isn't really something I can comfortably handle, anyway. I can do 30 minute features like the kinds show in museums, but even that's pushing it for me.

The only movie that I have seen in 3-D that didn't hurt my eyes was Avatar. So unless the movie is made by James Cameron, I'll just catch the 2-D version.

Yes, because it's a chance to see these movies where they belong, in a theater. I love my home theater, I would easily stack the sound system up against any non-Imax screen in my area, but the screen is another question. My house isn't physically big enough to properly match a commercial screen, not even by sitting close to a comparatively small screen to get a similar viewing angle. Also, on the one I've seen so far (Star Wars: Episode I 3D), the upconversion was shockingly good. Usually 3D upconversion sucks, but this actually looked better than some native 3D movies I've seen. ILM even managed to get the textures on the various roughcut fabrics to pop out in 3D, which is going so far above and beyond the usual standard that it's mindblowing. Kind of made me realize that upconversion itself takes the heat for what's really just the studios doing a crappy job of it in order to charge extra for tickets on their new blockbusters.

I'm really disappointed that Disney axed the rest of the 3D Star Wars re-releases, and I can't wait to see Jurassic Park. I'm hoping to go this Saturday, if I can swing it.

Hell no, I have two eyes that aren't broken... Yet (by extensive 3D viewing)

I will never see the point of making older movies into 3D, what does it add to the experience? Some goofy scenes where the actors go "WHHHHHHOOOOOOAAAAAA, LOOK AT THE SCREEN KIDDIES; S**T JUST GOT REAL!"

So yeah, I'm not a big fan of the third dimension

To me re-releasing seems like the epitome of cashing in. We all know the movies coming out have been based on already existing IP's more and more but this is the laziest cash in ever. Plus I am not one for 3d to begin with.

I selected no for other reasons. If an unreleased movie came out in 3D that appealed to me enough to watch it, then sure, i'd see it in 3D, but not rereleases (though I would go see Avatar in 3D if they did that, but just once), otherwise, i'll stick to 2D.

Normally no, because it's terrible 3D. I like 3D, but only a few movies have actually done it right, usually the movies made just for it. If they reshow an old movie with it of course it's going to look bad.
But I will see Jurassic Park, but only Jurassic Park. Do you know why?

It's Jurassic $^#&@*& PARK!

That movie is an awesome theater experience, if just to hear the T-rex roar.

No, it's such a useless gimmick. Especially when they redo an old film in 3D just to sell more. When I saw an ad for The Lion King in 3D I nearly flipped a table. And anyway, it's not nearly at a stage where I can watch a movie and not just sit there the whole time going, "wow, it's in 3D!" That can get awfully distracting.
