Depends on the genre. Some games would actually be worse off for it. Imagine Uncharted or Arkham Asylum/City without voice acting. In games like that, I prefer the voice acting over the text. Rockstar games got better as voice acting came in. RPGs can even benefit from voice acting depending on how it is implemented. Even in RPGs with a lot of voice acting I read a lot of stuff in them. (Codex's and lore 'books')
I don't mind reading but that doesn't mean I think that video games suffer or lose anything from implementing voice acting. A lot of times, they actually gain merit.
