I used to have 2, trough my entire childhood I was the kid being bullied around for being geeky.
Then I started training Karate and people left me alone, I got high self esteem and started with politics, now I got more friends than I can count. ^^

No, I don't think I've had any friends for atleast 10 years.

Not that I'm really a recluse since I have my family, but I do miss talking to other nerdy people about nerdy stuff like games or Japanese animation.
Im not trying to patronising m8, but thats something you should change.

Go to a games/japanese manga convention or hang around a store like forbidden planet, or even the warhammer shops. Im not into Japanese animation myself but my sister was really into it and by going to conventions and such met a lot of other very like minded people, and she made good friends out of it.

I voted no, I'm not sure if my brother whom I see once a month counts.
My brothers friend calls about once a month for tech support but he is not considered a friend of mine.

I'm a grumpy loner but it has helped me get a lot of work done on my projects.

That's the thing with me, I don't just randomly go talk to strangers because they might have the same interests as me. That and the fact that I live in Holland wich doesn't really have any game's or anime conventions. And If there happen to be any at all, they're on the other side of the country. But I probably wouldn't like it anyway since large crowds in confined spaces don't sit to well with me.

And the other problem is, I have Asperges. Wich I never use as an excuse, but it's an irritating fact of my life. But like I said, it's not like I'm a hermit or something. I have my family and a big one at that and a sister who thankfully has the same interests in movies as I have.

I've just been out of the social loop for so long that it almost seems impossible to get back in.

I prefer solitude. Having a few very close friends over a bunch of 'friends'. Small get togethers, occasionally, and nothing extravagant. Sitting around the fire, watching a movie, playing a board game, but mainly just talking with one another.

I have a ton of 'friends', but none that I would want to socialize with outside of work. My only three best friends have all scattered since graduating from high school, and I rarely talk to them. Aside from my brother and our mutual friend, I have my girlfriend. Everyone else is intolerable confusing immature... yeah. >.>

I have 9 guys and 6 girls that I usually hang out with or a mixture of them, it's quite difficult for us all to hang out unless it's outside :D

i have a small group of friends i'd trust with anything! trust is very important to me, and i generally go on a yearly purge of those who arent really my friends... lol but i dont need a large group of friends, 1 of mine is worth 2 of one of the other idiots at my school
I can vouch for this personally. I have a smaller group of friends, but they're the close kind of people that I'll be keeping in contact with long after high school's over and all the other jerks go off to fuck up their lives.

I could just message you on this. And it's the big quote button under a post, as you've probably realised.
I love the way I posted by accident and proved my self wrong...

Yeah, I have a "nerd" group of friends, a "music" group of a friends, and a "people that are in my grade" group of friends.

I'm only really good friends with a few of them though, like maybe three or four.

A few, but no really close friends. Maybe because I'm an arsehole.

That said, I prefer my own company most of the time. Friends at school, alone at home, works nicely.

I have a large circle of associates. And a quite small, but loyal friend group. I am not a very social creature, but the few people I do connect with, and want to stay connected with, I form a very close relationship with.

What cos we sepend time on the internet we can't have RL friends?
Why not? I have a few RL friends, but overall I don't really like hanging out with people. My boyfriend is pretty much all I need.
That's your choice though, which is fine, the question poses its self like "Do you have friends" in the sense of "do people actually like you"

I work in a pretty collaborative industry, so I am on fairly friendly terms with the hundred-ish people I work with on a daily basis.

As for purely social time, I have four main good friends that I see most often, and they have their friends, so we end up a big ol' group some times. We're not above sitting in a basement drinking and playing Left 4 Dead, though.

I also have a few more good friends that I see more rarely but stay in contact with electronically or meet up with a few times a year for drinks.

So... yeah. Not what I'd call a "recluse," but I'm not opposed to a few days at a time with no human contact if it comes to it. That's what single player games were designed for.

I don't get the feeling of 'do they actually like you' from the question, but meh.

I have friends, and I consider myself a pretty likable person. But as I don't like people, I choose to hang out on the net. QED.
