Yeah, my answer is basically this^. Though I get by with out having to take meds. It's weird though because the only times I've ever had an asthma attack was when pushing myself while running. (It's not self-diagnosed. A doctor diagnosed me by the way.) I would be running on a track, have an attack, and end up almost passing out on the side of the track. It was interesting during my time in the military because I would insist on running despite the difficulty breathing. Then a CO saw me lagging behind, running funny. He approached and ordered me to stop and go get checked out because my eyes were "getting glossy" and my face was "turning blue". I was also dealing with a lingering knee injury and a lingering shoulder injury. That was rough. I remember trying to run for the APFT (PT test) while the bounce from every step meant a stinging/stabbing pain in my upper back (the injury is around my shoulder blade area), my knee felt like it was getting hit with a nightstick or something, and the asthma flare made it feel like I was choking...rough. In case your wondering about my logic for not stopping, I figured that, since I was trained as a Combat Medic, somebody could die because I didn't get to them soon enough. Also, I couldn't just stop in the battlefield or I'd get killed. So, yeah...Pimppeter2 said:I "have" asthma. It kind of... comes and goes. I mean the last time it bugged me was about 2 years ago.
I think I'm due for another one, what with all the smoking.
OT: My answer has not changed since the last thread from about a second ago. My meds are simply my Inhaler, which I barely use, only in times that I really need it. And sometimes to get a buzz.![]()
This made me laugh... I was diagnosed at 6 months old, (I'm 36 now) and when I was a teenager I went through the 'gotta try it' stage for smoking. My best friend had CF and we starting smoking at the same time. Was the whole....I'm not getting any better doing what I should, so I'm gonna do stuff I shouldn't...thing.samanthacheryl said:Yep, I have asthma.
However, like Pimppeter2 I currently still smoke. I'm giving them up very, very soon though (check out the e-cig thread) Loads of asthmatics seem to smoke I've found; It's quite bizarre I have to say. (Me included)
I had asthma actually, and although I did took medicines, I cannot remember which were, since I lost it like at the 9 years old.Hashime said:I was wondering what percentage of escapists had asthma. I do from an experimental procedure that saved my premature posterior, but it is mild and well controlled.
How bad do you have it, what meds do you take?
I award you one Internet for you for that reference. Well done.Drakmeire said:if i may make a very nerdy reference to a book you probably haven't read since 9th grade
