Oh absolutely. Mainly for my girlfriend- for the most part I basically dont even let her open doors so I can for her, haha. I do hold open the door if there are a few last people coming through and I want to be kind. Its just part of being a gentleman.

I always hold doors open if there is someone behind me, it's just being polite. Though if someone acts like a dick about it I slam it in their face.

Of course I do; I'm a british gentleman!

I'm also a Nurse, that adds to it as well.

Not to mention, I was indoctrinated to hold doors open for people from a young age

I do like nearly all of the time. I'll hold the door for anyone within about 15 to 20 feet, if I notice them.

Yes, because the only time I didn't hold a door open for someone it hit a very pretty girl in the face and I felt really bad. So I voiwed that from that day forward I would always do my best to stop that kind of thing happening again.

I hold the door open for people everytime. Unless I'm carrying my bass and my electric guitar (+ my laptop + my schoolbag(on my back) in which case the door is opened for me :)

Ugh. Holding doors can be such a headache though, if they aren't RIGHT behind you. Like, how long is appropriate to wait for someone?

And it goes both ways. I hate it when someone way ahead of me holds the door because then I feel like I have to hurry because I'm holding them up. Unless they're directly in front of me, I'd just as soon they let the door close.

If I don't hate the person I'll keep it open for a second while I walk through to at least save the person behind me some effort in opening the door. Sometimes I might put in a bit more effort and actually stop until they've passed. That little "thank you" feels nice =)

Yeah, all the time. It is a lot more fun when I'm wearing skulls and pentagrams... confuses the hell out of them.

Yes. I do it because I like to be nice to other people (Whhich, in turn, is due to the fact that I can remember enjoying other ppl being nice to me, and wanting to share that with others).

I have ended up in "the infinite loop of holding up the door" a few times though. Which has made me add a few rules to prevent it:

1. Judge the distance. If the incoming person is too far away, just open the door as wide as possible behind you. You are more likely to make them feel embarrassed and speed up to prevent you from having to hold the door up too long (too many negative emotions are shared, rather than positive ones)

2. If someone is close enough to hold the door op themselves behind you, let them take it, especially if you are moving at speed and/or there are a lot of ppl behind you.

I will hold doors for anyone who is near, unless I'm in such a hurry that I'm bordering on "VERY LATE".

Yeah, for every and anyone. It's kinda the done thing, I guess- No reason not to.

AND If they are about to walk through on the other side I'll open it and step back, allowing them passage first.
