It's the nice thing to do. I've been known to hold the door open for a stream of strangers if I'm not in a rush. It feels good.
That's really a shame, if you think about it. Still, it brightened my day when I saw an 8 year old (I'm guessing age) run forward ahead of his mother to open a door for an old lady. That was very nicePorkChopXpress said:I do, I also say excuse me when I closely pass by someone on foot, it's just common courtesy. Though, I do notice fewer people do it nowadays.
HOLY SHIT THIS! One time I was at a concert at the House of Blues and I was waiting for my ride. A lot of people were walking out so I held this huge heavy door for everyone for a good 7 minutes and not a single thank you was uttered. After awhile I just let go and said out loud Fuck you people are rude!Fidelacchius said:Yes I do but I have to admit I get quite arsy when people don't do it for me and let it drop in my face OR if they don't say THANK You!
I have been know to mock and embarrass people who do not say thank you...
It's telling about a society when people consider "Not being a dick" to be "misguided."chronicfc said:I do it out of some misguided notion of gentleman-ship, especially if I happen to like the female in question. I will also do it for men of course, out of another misguided notion of kindness. The same goes for when someone drops something I pick it up for them, because I am a "top lad"
