If given the opportunity , i might.
But it would have to be a hardcore one, where you actually wear armor and beat each other with sticks

I'm not going to lie, that looks fucking epic.
Aye, I've been through an SCA War. Brutal stuff, but loads of fun.

Just stay away from anything called "Fire Dragon Thunder Piss" whilst in the camps.

I did when I was, perhaps, four...

Some of it is just stupid and creepy, but the idea of acting for the pure joy of acting seems like an artistic zenith.

I don't LARP but I do P&P RPG. Here's a thing I wonder: how do you determine the outcome of a battle or an encounter? I don't think everyone has a bag of dice that they roll before each hit, and I don't think that there's any actual combat involved, right? And even if it did require combat skill, then I don't get how the outcome of spells are rendered. Could anyone enlighten me on this?

That depends on where you play.
Som american larp roll dices due to fear of sueing, while european larps is about, you having an amount of hits you can take, before hitting the ground.

No. Sadly I have too much self respect to do such a thing. Also NZ so not much of a chance even if I did get sufficiently drugged enough to think it is a good idea.

Now if I was getting paid for it like the NZ army regiments they used in LOTR then fuck yes. A mate said he was in that and since they picked opposing units who hated each other it really was just a huge brawl and loads of fun.
Sounds more like you, having too LITTLE self respect, tbh...

And how would magic work? The infamous Lightning Bolt video comes to mind...

Again, depends. Most places dont even have magic, but they who have, involves throwing colored balls, flour or rice, while shouting what magic they are tossing.

I went once with my mate once. Found it brilliant. We just beat people with wooden swords. Hilarious.

I have never been so dedicated to a game/book/movie that I have wanted to go out dressed as a characted and pretend to be them.

Probably because I have a short attention span.
Also, when I become obsessed with a game, I just play the game constantly.

But I wont judge LARPing, people obviously enjoy it, good on them.

:p I am a girl, and I think it looks bad ass. I would love to do this. I mean why ever go to a rennisaince fair again, when you can live the dream. I go paintballing on a fairly regular basis and this looks just as fun if not more.

I've never had the chance to LARP as I'm in a relatively new area and there is pretty much no opportunity in my city. As soon as I find a group that would want to do it, I'm gonna go full speed ahead.

I think I'd give it a shot. When ever I go paintball I take things just that little bit extra (but so do all my mates so it's pretty cool)
