Poll: Do You Like Anime?

Several of my friends absolutely love it. I personally cannot stand it. The wacky hairstyles, the giant swords, the men that look like women, the way people suddenly get giant heads when they yell at people....my reasons for hating it go on and on. Anyway, I was curious about how many people like it.

Yes, I much prefer anime over 'normal' series.
Looking at your description of the anime you watched, you should probably watch better series before hating all anime.

What anime have you been watching? Try films by Studio Ghibli, or the tv series 'Death Note'. There is more than enough anime that doesnt fit that description.

I searched. Couldn't find it, so I asked. Maybe I didn't search enough? Everything seemed to be about anime writing competitions so I thought it was a pretty safe thread to make.

This is like going to a dog park and asking who likes dogs. A few might say no, but that's a small "few".
I love anime. It is close to the only "TV" I watch anymore. Yes it gets a bit over the top once in a while, but once you find a good one with a complex story and great characters (I'm looking at you (first 1/2 of) Death Note), you will be hooked until the final conclusion.
(And I am a sucker for cheesy romance crap)

Hmmmm, one of my friends suggested Death Note because it didn't fit into all of the sterotypes I hate so much. Maybe I'll check it out.

A lot of the mainstream anime is rather silly. There are a few gems in the rough though, such as Trigun (which tends to spit in the face of most cliches wonderfully) and Death Note (which is more of a mystery drama, a refreshing find.) I recommend giving both of those a try.

Anime is a medium with an absurd plethora of different genres... I think Yhatzee made that point somewhere.

OT: Did anyone see "Grave of the Fireflies"? That was so horribly depressing.

Let's just say I like them and I find it very entertaining.

After all, I saw pokémon when I was 7-8 years of age. It's not something you can simply ignore.

Well, the Escapist search bar is clearly worthless for this task, but even <url=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.184027-Poll-Anime>Google <url=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.112559-Poll-anime>had <url=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.186056-Anime-A-love-hate-relationship>trouble with it, so I guess it's understandable.

Question's been asked four or five times to my knowledge in the past few months (most of which aren't turning up, so I guess I shouldn't be talking). Unlike most repeat threads, this kind of question doesn't usually draw the same level of flames as, say...a "do you like JRPGs" thread, so hopefully that will hold.
