So soon there is a class field trip to go camping for three days. We are going to sleep in tents, hike and swim and such. For some reason I seem to be the only person in my class who thinks this sounds like a horrible idea. I hate camping and hiking.

What about you?

EDIT: Also if you do/don't like camping, why?

I don't like camping because I don't like the feeling of being dirty all the time and I'm afraid of bugs.

.....oh, that was disappointing......I thought you meant camping in games or *cough* slang terms however on the topic.....I haven't been camping..much however I would do it...if I had friends to do so.

I love camping, as long as I have a camper. I'm so paranoid about sleeping in a tent because you can't lock a tent. My favorite camping spot is in the Big Horn Mountains in Wyoming. It's nice and quiet up there, and cool even in the middle of the summer.

Camping is awesome.

As long as there is no running water and utilities-- roughing it is the way to go.

I have yet to have fun while camping, but I don't dislike the idea, just the people I have had to go with.

Well all depends, If I were say camping with family I would hate it. If i were camping with some buddies with a ton of weed and alcohol it would be the greatest time!

I like nature but I need something to make it non excruciatingly boring

I like camping. It's okay for a bit, but it gets dull hanging around the campfire all day. Normally, we go canoeing, and that is pretty fun, but I've yet to go hiking.

I like camping, but only if it's on a camp ground that actually has bathrooms. Seriously, digging a latrine, or pooping in a bucket is not my idea of fun. Still, I do like the outdoors, and have quite a bit of survival experience.

Just a question, but what is it that you don't like about camping?
Hmm thats a hard one :S I think its because I hate the feeling of being dirty all the time and I don't like hiking. I don't understand why everyone loves camping. I dunno it just doesnt make sense to me.

It's exactly the opposite for me.

I really, really don't like camping. Still, I've had a lot of fun whenever I went camping with friends. Of course, that fun was because of the friends, not the camping.

I really don't like sleeping in a tent.

I love it. We camp up north two times a year. Once in the summer and once in the winter. I also prefer tents over campers any day. I like it for Fishing, hiking, swimming, the weather, family bonding, and there is a pig wrestling event held there in summer.

I'm always willing to go camping; how much I enjoy it, though, does depends somewhat on the weather conditions. :p

It's realllllly fun unless you got a whiner or a non team player. I mean if things run smooth like clean up or getting fire wood, it's a blast. if someone is constantly complaing about skeeters or something then it's headache

I completely agree- roughing it is true camping and the best kind, I especially love overland hikes through wilderness areas (the ones that take several days- a week to complete), time money and lack of willing friends are the only things preventing me from going all the time.

Considering I have 48 acres of woods, I do rather like hiking, and camping as well, but only for a day or two.
