I don't like how often he includes (warned) Spoilers in his videos.

Because that makes his reviews WORTHLESS.

Spoilers from the start mean the only people who should watch his review are those who either do not care about the film or have seen it already... when it is precisely people who HAVE NOT SEEN the film and DO CARE about it that want to watch the review.

NO REVIEW should have such critical spoilers in it. I'm not saying remove the spoiler tags, I'm saying DON'T PUT SPOILERS IN YOUR REVIEW!

It's movie criticism 101, tell us about the movie without ruining it.

Spoiler tags don't solve anything, they just waste people's time going through a 30 second add and waiting for video buffering only to have immediate spoiler warning so you switch off. In future I just will not bother loading the video nor any other content.

A retrospective is a DIFFERENT matter, there spoilers are to be expected. But movie review? Advising people about the film? Shouldn't have to have the audience dance around your spoiler warning or worse "Minor spoiler" warnings. What the hell kind of warning is that?

Ugh, he can be informative and he definitely knows his movies well but most of the time the price you have to pay to watch his videos is just too much for me. His voice is nothing short of irritating and his overall tone just comes across as pretentious and smug, with absolutely no humility. He doesn't seem to be very tolerant of the opinions of others either, which makes his air of superiority that much more unbearable to be an audience to.

Yes I do.

I maybe only agree with his opinion in Escape to the Movies about 2/3 of the time, but I still find him to be the most entertaining movie reviewer that I watch on a regular basis. As for Big Picture and Intermission, well, some of his jokes are a little flat and I know fuck all about comics and comparatively little about television so I often don't care much when something is dedicated to those two subjects but otherwise I really do like his stuff. I'm also very thankful that he explains the contexts of his arguments about comics and TV so that people like myself can understand what the problem is, where he's coming from, and where the solutions may lie. Though I like Yahtzee, Jim, and the guys and gals from LRR (and Cory and Grey, and the Escapist staff, and Ginx, and you idjits who populate the forums...), it's MovieBob that has kept me a regular on this site for so long.
A sporadic regular! Well, after you hit 10k anyway.

OP: I still like him. I don't watch his videos as much as I used to but that's mostly because I stopped watching the videos here when my laptop broke. The videos aren't really iPad friendly.
He's pretty clever, we disagree on a lot of things but if we had the same opinions watching his videos would be incredibly boring.
The only negative thing I have to say about him is that he could handle some criticisms better, or at least directly, rather than bitching about it on twitter. That doesn't have much to do with the content of his shows though.

Wow, 60 days since I've seen one of these "Do you like or dislike Movie bob" thread. At one point, they were so regular you can almost set your watch to them. I was wondering when somebody was going to get upset about his opinion of something yet again.

For the record, no I've never been tired of Bob's opinions because I do it right. I never take it personally because I know he's entitled to it as much as I am mine. I listen to his opinion, check how it gauges with mine of the subject and evaluate. If they mesh, they mesh. If they don't, they don't.

If you are sitting there crying because he calls one of your sacred cows a useless and boring argument, you are doing it wrong. The correct answer is saying "Nice to know that he sees no use out of 'Han firing first' argument so I won't bring it up with him."
Wow. Someone here with a brain.

Yeah, I like his material and the 'direction' (though I wouldn't call it that) he's taking it in.
I find him to be very entertaining and insightful, and I can safely say I've learned a couple of things about pop culture from him. I don't always agree with him about stuff, but I can respect his opinions because he explains them so well.
We'd disagree on a few things but I'd treat the guy to a beer anytime.

He's alright. I only watch what he makes based on the title though, if he's going to talk about something that I know I'm going to be interested then I'll listen to his opinion. Most of the time I tend to disagree with what he says.

I like his material even though I disagree with his views on certain things (Amazing Spider Man was awesome. Bob is totally wrong on that matter). Lately it seems like he's been getting an awful lot of flak for....well, anything, and I can't help but wonder if it's not just ill-will stemming from his Other M and Mass Effect videos.

EDIT: What "new direction" are we talking about here anyway? It's same old Moviebob as far as I'm concerned.

F*** me, can anyone actually tell me about this supposed new direction? All I've heard is people coming up with broad strokes of change that really don't mean he's taking a new direction. Can anyone give me a clear example of direction-change? A comparison between new & old material would be apt here.

Until then I'll just say I find Bob "OK". I just watch is videos for the entertainment and they're decent. I do dig his "Big-Picture" when he delves into educational matters such as Hollywood and the Golden Age.

The guy knows his shit. I barely ever agree with the guy's opinion, but that's not the point. I watch his vids cause they're informative, and he usually adds some stuff that interests me even if it's about something I dislike or disagree with. If I want a movie recommendation I'll watch Half in the Bag, since I know they've got the same taste as I do, and look for the same things in movies.

In general, the more off-topic to his core competency (movies) the less inclined to listen to him I get.

His movie reviews are great for me as our intrests and tastes align quite often so if he likes it, chances are I'm going to as well.

The Big Picture and Intermission are ok as long as he stays factual and they don't devolve into rants.

I can't stand him jizzing his pants over ZAck Snyder. The man did Dawn of the Dead, it was his one good thing. Sucker Punch is not a tour de force, it's schlock. Also, Django was terrible. Just because Pulp Fiction was good, does not mean every other Tarentino movie is good. The Game Overthinker is okay, but the story thing sucks. I used to like him, but his obvious positive reviews just because fanboy sucks.

I just turned into the people I hate on forums.

No. He used to be a lot more critical of movies. Now everything is awesome and I can't trust his opinion anymore. He's losing his credibility and there's so few "critics" that have any credibility already.
In the last 16 episodes, he liked 5 movies, hated 5 and was in the middle on 6 of them. I am not detecting a loss of "credibility" in that output.

Do you see him lose credibility simply because his opinion of product no longer gels with yours? That's not a loss of credibility. That's merely his opinions not matching up with yours.
Out of the last 10 he recommended 10. One of them was Twilight. Set, spike and point.

Never liked him to start with.

For the most part it's like listening to Chronic Flatulence after a Vindaloo the amount of hot air he blows while talking out of his arse.
That was funny.

Anyway, I just like some of his opinions on certain movies but I'm not a follower. Direction wise I guess its okay that he's doing something beyond movies I guess. Other than that I'm mostly indifferent.

I quite like Bob's content, yes. I don't always agree with what he says, but I think that despite his ignorance as to the nature of the hatred Mass Effect 3 garnered, he's still entertaining to listen to and that's what's important wether I agree with him or not.

Honestly I've always found him a whiney, annoying, hypocrite.

But if he really changed stuff up I guess I'll give him another chance...

Yeeeeah, I slowed down my posting to a near standstill after I hit 10 and a half k. I just stopped caring about cramming my 2 cents down other people's throats contributing to the discussions, especially if I had little or nothing to add. I still try to post a couple times every month though. But a regular I remain, sporadic or not :D

I think you're overanalysing.

I like him, he's never bothered me, and I agree with 'American Bob'

Don't watch his other stuff outside here, apart from that though.
