I haven't seen even half of them, but the ones I've watched have all been worth the ticket price. Can't really ask for more than that.

I totally like them since Ironman. Sadly Hulk movies were crappy and I don't care about anything Sony or Fox does, but MCU has been amazing because they have amazing action, likeable characters, they show superheroes, not some crazy people wearing costume and speaking like they have a sore throat in a horrible city.

Basically Marvel brought fun back to Hollywood, with smart stories and connected universe. They know how to do superhero movies right and they know how to do fun movies right, like those we had with the first Star Wars movies.

Guardians of the Galaxy is one the funniest movies ever and it's a better Star Wars than the prequels and it's based on a bunch of unknown characters. Marvel can do any character right. Even Ant-Man, Squirrel Girl, Howard the duck or whatever.

I've liked all the ones I've seen, which is basically everything except the Hulk movies (and the X-Men and Fantastic 4 movies, which aren't part of the main MCU, but still). I even liked Iron Man 3, which was a mess overall, but still had a lot of fun scenes and characters throughout. In fact, I rarely bother seeing movies in theaters, but I always go to see the MCU films when they come out. I haven't been fully disappointed by them yet.

Generally like them. Some of the Iron Man movies were fun, Cap 2 was fun, Guardians was fun. Avengers and the Thor movies were rather boring. But the bottom line is I don't see these movies anywhere near the genius levels most people go on about. I suppose they make as good a movie as you can get from such bland source material though.

For the most part, yest.

I've only genuinely disliked 3 of them (that I've seen anyway): Iron Man 2, Captain America: The First Avenger, and Iron Man 3 (truly awful IMO).

Some were great (Captain America 2), some were good (Iron Man, Guardians of the Galaxy), some were fun (Avengers is not a good movie, but it is a fun one - pretty much the definition of a summer movie), some spent too much time building the universe for the movies to be good by themselves (Thor, Iron Man 2, Captain America, Thor 2), and some had people that could breathe fire (Iron Man 3: due to a scheduling error I've only seen the second half of the movie, so I can't really judge it properly). None were bad. At worst, they're boring (either of the Thor movies), but never actually bad.

I'm simultaneously a sucker for the shared-universe conceit (the second half of season 1 of Agents of SHIELD was a really fun ride, and I've spent far too much time googling Marvel lore to see what might be on the horizon) and glad when their movies don't focus on it. A big part of what made those first 3 I listed good in my eyes was that they worked perfectly well as stand-alone movies - there were things tying into either prior movies or the universe as a whole, but the fact that they were connected was never a crucial point that you needed to enjoy the movie. Thor and Iron Man 2 spent a ton of time making SHIELD into a thing, at the expense of doing much else with the plot. Captain America needed a way to get Steve and the Tesseract to the present and jumped through tons of hoops to make it happen. Thor 2...was really just kind of a mess all around, but hey, that Aether sure was a thing, wasn't it? I wonder if we'll see that again? (Poor Thor, he hasn't really gotten a movie that's actually about him yet: first Jane and SHIELD stole the spotlight, then Jane and Loki.)

But yeah, I'm generally a Marvel fan. I'd like to see the shared-universe stuff shift more to the small screen, where it has more time to shine, so the films have more space to tell their own stories, because when they do tell their own stories, those stories are pretty darn good.

Why is there no middle ground option? I thought Iron Man 1 was pretty cool, but 2 and 3 were boring, Hulk 03 was great, but the 08 one was terribly average. Captain America and Thor films have been pretty lame, although The Avengers was entertaining. Haven't seen Guardians of the Galaxy yet. But I've never been much of a superhero fan. I enjoyed the Dark Knight, which would have been infinitely better if they had changed some of the names, and Batman was replaced by a rich vigilante in a mint suit instead of...Batman suit. I loved Man of Steel, because the music was phenomenal, and it's the closest we'll ever get to a good Dragon Ball Z live action film (Seriously, change a few names and you've pretty much got the Saiyan Saga).

Title says it all. Although the Marvel movies have largely been commercial and critical successes, I know there are just as many people out there who dislike them a great deal for various reasons, like their dislike of continuity in movies or treating some films as, and I quote, "overblown trailers for future movies".

So I'd like to know your feelings on them. Do you like them? Dislike them? Or something in-between?

Yeah, might want to rethink that assumption there, or ask a different audience.

The only one I haven't seen is Hulk. Of the ones I've seen, the only ones I didn't particularly care for were the two Thor movies. I didn't think they were bad... but I'm fairly content with having only seen them once, and don't really have any motivation to see them again.

I don't dislike them, I just don't find them particularly engaging either.

It's pretty cool that Marvel is making the whole thing work, what with the lack of (at the time) grade-A superheroes, the movies just lack a real personality in my opinion. And the more they make the more it feels like a big pot of generic stuff without a head and a tail. Movie after movie of superhero guy must stop bad guy, followed by another superhero guy somewhere else who must stop a different bad guy out to destroy the world also.

Guardians of the Galaxy looks interesting because it seems more detached from this and looks be a fun space adventure first and foremost.

We're only talking Marvel Studios right?

Iron Man - Good
Iron Man 2 - Some good scenes, mediocre movie
Iron Man 3 - Not sure what to think, alright movie but kinda boring

Thor - Good enough

Captain America - Good acting, otherwise forgettable

The Avengers - Some good scenes with really good acting, mediocre movie, too long

Guardians of the Galaxy - Best one so far.

Haven't seen the others yet.

*sheds a single tear* That was beautiful... *sniffs* Well said, if I do say so myself...

OT: I like them enough to want to watch them whenever I get the chance... more so on TV/Blu-Ray than in theaters (even thought Guardians of the Galaxy was the first Marvel movie in the MCU I watched in theaters), but still...

Now, I wonder if Marvel would do a "Year of the Female Superheros" lineup with two back-to-back movies with female leads... (But, I digress... for now...)

Iron Man was fine.
Didn't see The Incredible Hulk.
Didn't see Iron Man 2.
Captain America wasn't very good.
Thor was crap.
The Avengers was mediocre.
Iron Man 3 was absolute garbage.
I refuse to see any more. There are far too many actually great films, or good films, or interesting films, or otherwise worthwhile films.... there are too many films. And I just can't waste any more time with them.

You don't watch them because they're mostly male-led?

That seems like really questionable reasoning.

OP: I've really enjoyed most of the ones I've seen.
Sure, they're not the most high-brow films ever made but, for the most part, they're fun to watch.

Guardians of the Galaxy was the last one I went to see and it was a pretty fun movie, I laughed out loud more than a few times.

and whys that?

I haven't seen a Super hero movie since Iron man 2, I got sick of the genre, being male led doesn't help with my lack of motivation

I do want to see Iron man 3 and mabye captain America...you know...if I can be assed...Iron man 2 left a bad taste in my mouth

It's weird because I like the idea (crossing superhero continuities together) but except for The Avengers, that hasn't really happened as of yet, which is a bit idiotic (in my opinion). There might as well be no pretense for having this whole Cinematic Universe if other superheroes aren't going to show up. So that's my opinion about the universe. As for the movies..., some of them are good, and a lot of them are facepalmingly bad. Phase 2 (I think it's called Phase 2) in particular has the best collection of awful Marvel movies. I very much liked the new Captain America movie, but strangely enough my favorite still remains the original Iron Man. That movie rocks.

Usually it seems like anyone who dislikes the MCU movies probably has their head up their ass or is dead inside.
They are the most reliably good set of movies ever to be made, aside from Pixar's.
At worst they're mostly good. At best they're phenomenal.

I'm actually jealous of the kids who get to grow up in a world where they have like 12 years worth of MCU movies to watch by the time they're old enough to start watching them.
Star Wars will mean almost NOTHING to those kids.

Now, if people hate some of the non-MCU Marvel movies, like X-Men, Spider-Man, Fantastic Four, Ghost Rider etc etc....fair enough.
Aside from like Spider-Man 1, Spider-Man 2, X-Men 2, and The Wolverine, MOST of them range somewhere between really mediocre and complete shit.
The first couple Blade movies, Tom Jane's Punisher, and the Director's Cut of Daredevil were alright.

It just seems kind of silly to avoid an entire group of films based primarily on the fact that they have male leads.

Sure, it would be great to have more female protagonists in the genre, well, most genres really, but I wouldn't avoid films because of it.
