It's no Two Towers.
There's only one trilogy and it aint of the king, it's of the Jedi.

ROTJ is brilliant. Not as brilliant as ESB, but still brilliant
how so? I mean... It was filled with cheese, and bad acting, and bad dialogue, all the things people criticize the prequels for...so how is it more brilliant than those

Yes, but I'd still like to have seen the Ewoks replaced with Wookies.
It's #2 behind Empire for me.

I liked Return Of The Jedi. I really don't understand why somebody wouldn't, especially compared to some of the newest "Movies" being made in the series.

Because my opinion makes me think so? I'll have to disagree too, I can't think of much cheese or bad acting.

I don't hate the prequels (and I'm not people and can't speak for them). The only one I really disliked was the third one because it felt truly tacked on and the guy who played Skywalker/Vader was a robot.

I actually preferred it to Empire, simply because space battles were my favourite part of star wars, and while I like A New Hope more as an overall film, the Hoth battle can't hold a candle to Jedi's space battle. Like someone else said it really is the greatest space battle ever filmed.

Only one trilogy? What about the one about the Jones? the Future? The Beverly Hills? The Toy Story? the Bourne? the Dollars? the Powers? the Cannonball? the Max? the Godfather? the Pirates? the Park? the Matri... ok forget that one... the Ducks? the Mummy? the Gun? the Neverending? the Sinbad? The Oceans? the Musketeers? etc etc etc.

You're saying these don't exist? not even... the CARE BEARS TRILOGY?!

wat.
I can see how it would be someone's favorite. To me, it's decent until the Darth Maul fight on Naboo. That fight is a game-changer, it kicks so much ass. Plus the music during it was great.

Aside from that, I thought the underwater section had some cool visuals and the pod race was interesting. And the Qui-Gon and Kenobi pairing worked well.

The big things going against it for me: Jar Jar and midichlorians. Those aren't enough to wreck the movie.

It is my favorite for three reasons.

1: 4 expertly choreographed battles senses

2: Saw the movies as a child. If watched as a child Star Wars 6 is the best movie because it is the most approachable to a younger audience.

3: A open ended ending that still has a sense of closer.

Fun fact! Everyone wanted Han Solo to die in the trilogy, but it went against the original screen that George Lucas created.

I love it. It's an epic end to the most epic trilogy of all time. And yeah that includes the Ewoks.

I have never watched it.

..

What? I'm 15. That movie is twelve years older than me. My childhood movie was Batman Begins
I'm 16 and I've probably seen it more than most 30 year olds. You should be ashamed of yourself for not seeing such an amazing movie. Go out and rent it right now. Age doesn't matter, I watch tons of movies that were out before I was born. Analyze This. Strange Brew. God, those are great movies!
I shall, wise man/woman. I shall make my way to the store and buy the original trilogy. And if they don't have it, I'll go to another store. And another. Until I get it. I shall make sure I wash this unholy sin of myself.

It's been my favorite since I first saw it at the age of five.
That's pretty much the same for me, and I think this is the key here. Older Star Wars geeks, like in their 40's-50's, who got to see the trilogy live, probably felt a little cheated getting the more kid friendly RotJ after the darker ESB. From a kids perspective though, it's reverse as Return of the Jedi is the best while Empire Strikes back was a little weaker (pre-prequels of course). So while I can see the difference now it's still hard for me to look at Return in a negative way.

...Going a bit off topic but kind of the same thing with Bond movies I guess. I went through a James Bond kick when I was around 12 or 13 I think, watching all of them in a summer. Among my top 3 favourites would be Moonraker, while On Her Majesty's Secret Service was the worst. So having not watched them in 15 years it's funny now to see people talk about them and the general consensus is the exact opposite of my childish preferences.

The Return of the Jedi is great if you take out the Ewoks and Jaba's Palace.

The space battle over Endor and the confrontation between Luke and Emperor Palpatine however are awesome.

Well they didn't nessicarily hate it but a couple individuals I know just look down on it compared to the first two. The good news is that all of these individuals liked it better then the prequels.

It had good scenes but it wasn't up to par with the other two. Now it's leagues above the newer movies.

Worst of the original trilogy.

Really my only problem with it was the damn ewoks, but it was definitely better than any of the prequels.

Very well, Escapists! I shall heed your wise advice and make my way towards the store now!

And while I'm at it, I might as well pick up 'Heat'. I've heard that it's one of the best 'heist' movie ever.
Yeah, you do that, when you make me feel old for watching all the Original Star Wars films before I started school (And I'm a year older than you), I think there's some sort of a problem here

Also good choice on picking up Heat, 'tis indeed the best heist movie ever.
