So, I recently made a topic about nostalgic cartoons that people can't stand. And, oddly enough, every other post in said topic listed Scooby Doo as a cartoon they hate.

Which brings me to this topic. I'd like to how much of the Escapist actually likes Scooby Doo, and how much hates it.

So, what about me? Well...

I'll admit, Scooby Doo probably ranks pretty low on my list of Hanna-Barbera cartoons I actually like, but I can't really bring myself to say that I hate it.

The original show wasn't very good, I'll freely admit. And any series involving Scrappy Doo needs to be thrown in a fire an sent to hell. To say nothing of A Pup Named Scooby Doo. But, What's New Scooby Doo wasn't all that bad.

And I can't forget the Scooby Doo movies. A good percentage of them are actually good. Zombie Island and Witch's Ghost are both pretty damn excellent. And I know I won't make any fans for saying this... but I actually LIKE the live-action movie. The first one, that is. It had a sense of humor about itself, and was more than willing to poke fun at how goofy the premise of Scooby Doo actually was. Plus, Scrappy Doo was the villain. I cannot stress enough how much that tickles me.

What about the rest of you? What's your general feelings towards Scoobert?

The outline for each episode's predictable, but I still loved it when I was a kid. Probably because of the different settings and villains.

I remember there was this series where Scooby and the Gang team up with a random celebrity each episode.

I used to like it, especially as a kid, and might still if it wasn't for the marathons of it that my brother used to watch. I think I got my fill.

Yeah, the repetition is what made watching marathons of it so mind numbing.

I remember I used to watch it every now and again as a kid, but that was years back, so I don't really have a solid opinion on it. I was never a huge cartoon fan, even when I was younger.

I like the new show
Scooby Doo Mystery Inc on cartoon network and hope its new season starts. It actually gives the characters character and has an overarching plot. Plus its actually funny.

I do like the old scooby but they are really dated.

I seem to remember quite enjoying Scooby Doo as a child, but I haven't watched it in a long, long time. I suspect I'd probably not enjoy it as much now, and I reckon it'd be pretty badly dated by now. Somehow, I doubt it's one of those shows that's aged all that well.

I've never liked Scooby Doo, I always found it boring, but as CODE-D [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/jump/18.379709.14896738] the new show is actually pretty good, granted I've only seen 3 episodes and they were all on the same day, but it was really entertaining, not the kind of thing I would tune in to watch, but if I bump into it while changing channels I'll leave it there, so anyway, original show, NOPE not at all, new show, definitely.

I used to like Scooby doo but as I got older I liked it less and less. Shaggy ended up really annoying me and I was always baffled as to why Shaggy liked Scooby snacks so much as I was under the impression that it was dog food.

People disliked Scooby Doo?!

Sure, Scrappy should've remained a single episode cameo, but the show was brilliant.

I have some nostalgia but not very much. Basically liked it a hell of a lot more ten years ago.

I fond memories of watching it with friends as kids, and then hanging onto it late in our teens. So I'll always love it. I watch the old ones from time to time. Something about how dated they are makes them charming to me.

Absolutely love Zombie Island.
Zombie island and the few movies that followed were also pretty good(the witch one had tim curry) but then they made more, the quality and plots were bad. And they didnt bring anything new like zombie did with making the monsters actually real.

The live actions were okay as well, good tributes to the series.

I think a good portion are going to say "liked it as a kid, not so much now." Kids like repetitive shits, so it's to be expected.

Yes, my dog is called Scooby Doo who like his name sake is scared of pretty much everything, but I love him because he's a big dumb idiot.

As for the cartoon, I could give or take it. Scrappy Doo can go die in a fire though.

Yeah, I liked it a lot as a kid (I also enjoyed Batman & Robin, X-Men: The Last Stand, and Spider-Man 3 as a kid, but whatever). It's fairly enjoyable, even now.

I can't even remember if I liked it before my brother was born. I think I was neutral on it, I was never fond of that stupid music-chase thing. I used to go make food during that.

But having to sit up with a 3 year old at stupid-o-clock watching Scooby-Doo to get him to stop crying tends to taint your recollection. Still, to be fair thats also why I can't watch `Finding Nemo` without wanting to scream.

I liked them well enough as a kid and I find the show inoffensive and entertaining enough now as an adult, so put me down for like. Not the best, but an okay way to kill a half hour.
