I'm curious about how many people like the the humour and style of South Park so I just made this topic.

Anyway I like the humour and style a lot.

I think the 'attack everyone' style of humour and parody is great, to me its the only way you can do some of those jokes and not come off as some kind a biased person, obviously the groups they make fun off don't appreciate it but I think its the only way to be fair.

The style of the show is great too, there are some absolutely stupid episodes like the toilet seat episode but their some episodes with some great observations and morals too, like the Atheism episode where Cartman goes forward in time and the Paris Hilton and Britney spears episode.

Also if anyone doesn't like the style and humour, I'd like to know why you don't.

Not a big fan, no. I liked it in a time where it was still shocking to some degree, but I think their audacity has dried out over time. And let's face it, the only thing that show had going on for itself was audacity.

I enjoy the older episodes, but the newer one's suffer from the same thing that makes me not very keen on the new Futurama episodes.

I prefer watching other shows when I can, but I enjoy South Park when I watch it. I think people are less fond of it though since from what I know, the older episodes where more out there and weird for weirdness sake, while now every episode is preachy against something.

Depends. Sometimes they'd go and do something funny, other times they'd just be shocking for the sake of being shocking. Anyone can be shocking, it's not a talent.

Being funny, OTOH, is, especially when they are also saying something worthwhile.

It's largely enjoyable.

I'm not too big on the "take big recent cultural thing, make episode" format the most recent seasons have been doing though.

I'm gonna be that guy that says that South Park is just too disgusting sometimes for me to laugh at it. Shame too because the jokes that aren't disgusting are really funny.

I used to really enjoy south park. But imo it has gone very down hill in the last 3-4 years. The writers need to stop pushing their crappy political pro-marijuana,libertarian, atheist messages into literally every episode. They're panning to the college age stoner a little bit too hard and it's getting on my nerves. And this is coming from a fan that can basically recall any episode when given a detail.

I like it. Granted its not the bleeding edge it once was, but nothing can be. Basically it suffered much the same fate as the Simpsons. Original demographic got bored and new upcoming demographics failed to have the nostalgia for it, so the longer it keeps going the more people like to talk negatively about it like its past its prime and should have been cancelled years ago, etc.

The show is good even today and even with its format changes. I think the real problem is not the show, but people having these bizarre expectations and somehow miss the fact it is not like you cant take two steps without tripping over "better" television offerings.

So I do wonder when people speak negative, or just excessively non positive about a show if they ask themselves "what else could I watch that would be more enjoyable"

Eh, it can get up it's own ass with politics at times, and there are ups and downs, but overall I quite like the show.

You sure you're not thinking of Family Guy there. South Park generally tends to put each side on the dunce chair.

Anyway, I haven't seen it in a long time. After season 10 I noticed things getting a bit too obnoxious with way too much focus on Randy as the doofus dad character, and excessive swearing for the sake of it. There were a few gold episodes like "Major Boobage", "Pandemonium", and "Imagination Land", but overall most episodes smacked of Matt and Trey laughing their asses off in the writers room at their own juvenile comedy. "HumancentIpad" or the sex addict episode are a perfect example of this. They think of one joke which isn't even that funny, they make their point with it within the first 5 minutes, and then continue to run it into the ground for the duration of the episode.

But this is nothing new. Every series will ultimately go down the pot the longer it continues.
