I like the ones that involve medieval or pre-medieval characters because,as stated before, you actually have different weapons fighting each other.Although my favorite is with the musketeers, because I find the entire musket era fascinating,so soldiers using muskets and wielding rapiers as master fencers?Hell yes.

However, the tests are scientifically worthless.I mean, why the hell give someone a pig carcass and tell him to go nuts on it for 5 minutes?A better test would be only giving him one strike and seeing if that's lethal or not.Because in 5 minute's worth of stabbing things, even a spoon can mess someone up.

Now with the modern ones.Holy shit, are they biased.SWAT team vs GSG9: on the show, the swat team wins, rather easily, despite the gsg9 consistently bringing home awards for the best counter-terrorism group of the police arm in real life at competitions. There should have been no contest at all,the swat team deals most of the time with bringing down the law on drug lords or crazy bastards holing up with a gun somewhere, the gsg9 is trained for acts of planned terrorism.
The latest one?SEALs vs Isreali commandos? The SEAL team had access to an M4 with nice optics, but the Isreali had to use a carbine with no optics at all.Everyone knows that the very purpose of a red dot sight is to make aiming so much easier than with the iron sight.
I'll also call out the CIA vs KGB one, just for good fun,but you get the picture,CIA won of course.

I like it, but I feel like they used all used all the good match ups on season 1 and season 2 was a bunch of obscure warrior tribes and cops.

If there wasn't so much repeating parts, then yes, I'd like it. I don't like how they go over the same thing multiple times an episode, every time it comes back from commercial.

I really don't like it.

They over-dramatize the fact that it's just a bunch of douchebags hitting gel dummies with ancient weapons.

I like everything except the macho posturing that seems to happen before and after each and every experiment. In other words, I like learning about the prowess of history's warriors, but I wish the testers would shut up.

It's a barrel of laughs as long as you're aware that it's nowhere near accurate. Example being the GSG-9 against a SWAT team. Yes, they gave the edge to "good ol' American ingenuity" over "Superior equipment and tactics".

And Vlad the Impaler against Sun Tzu. I just didn't understand that one. Why did they match a wooden hand against a five foot sword?

awesome show. love the history. got the game
That's basically my logic. I enjoy both the show and the game, and don't understand why people complain about the realism of super ninja stealthiness and stuff like that. I mean, if you can't stand stuff like that, then you probably can't play games like Halo, or read Dr. Seuss to kids because it would never happen in real life. It's to enjoy.

Inaccurate? Yes. Insanely entertaining? Yes. They get some stuff wrong but I love seeing the weapons testing.

To quote Yathzee, "It's stupid fun. And who doesn't like stupid fun."

While I disagree with the results often, it's a good show for entertainment purposes. And I agree that the "testers" should shut up every once in awhile. They can get somewhat annoying.

I love it I find it to be a very entertaining show, especially when the groups representing the different warriors try to trash talk when the other group just sliced a pig carcass clean in half.

I watch it to see them test the weapons and to enjoy the hokey battles. I think some people, the haters that is, take the show too seriously. Then again, so does the show itself sometimes.

i really enjoy the show: they have a nice background and are generally entertaining it the presentation of it. At least they try to be accurate with it even if there are often some dodgy decisions that often contradict themselves (how many times do you hear x factor's good, but y gives it the edge" and then in another episode "y factor's good, but x gives it the edge") It's a shame that supposedly, according to some interviews, the experts don't get to choose the weapons which leads to the often stupid choice of weapons for a one-on-one match up, but for entertainment it's definately a good way to kill some time.
i also wish they would place more analysis into the combination of weapons than taking them individually: some of them are clearly meant to be used together for maximum effect.

Why do people put stupid joke answers in their polls?!

Urgh...anyway.

I've never seen a full episode of it.
I remember seeing this versus thing they did with the IRA versus the taliban.
The IRA won.
Western terrorists > Eastern terrorists!
Iraq is just the IRA with a Q on the end, oh wait

To all the people who think they don't do enough testing. What they show us is only the most interesting and brutal of the tests. They do literally days of testing and preperation, and the battle simulation is done 1000 times. During those 1000 times random tactics are generated, and the most common ones are shown in the battle we see.
thanks for clearing that up, i didn't know that. I'm going to give the show more credit from now on.

The one thing that I don't like is most of the combat experts they bring in are arrogant, or to put it bluntly, douchebags. One of the few who I have actually liked was the Spartan combat expert, most notably when he conceded that the Samurai's long range weapon was superior to the Spartan's, and showed the Samurai representatives respect (Spartan won the battle, but still a very awesome fight).
Yeah in the Israeli Commando/SEAL fight, both sides were pretty cocky, although the SEALs sort of have a right to be. as an american of greek decent, i was proud to know the Spartans won :)

All in all, i think the show is very interesting, because i'm just into that kind of stuff.
