I was just reading an article about gaming and how it's evolving from 1.0 to 2.0 (it was in a magazine, but this article [http://socialtimes.com/how-the-game-industry-is-evolving-from-gaming-1-0-to-gaming-2-0-part-1-of-6_b15594] is somewhat similar).

I disagree with the notion that Gaming 2.0 is the way of the future; I believe people like to collect things. People collect stamps, sea shells, rocks, DVDs, and video games, to name a few. And I'm talking about physical copies - although if you collect all sorts of games on Steam and such you're probably the type of person who collects physical copies as well.

But anyway, I thought it would be an interesting survey to take; who likes having physical copies of games versus digital copies?

Good point.
Also, call me old fashioned, but if I'm really into a game I like to look through the manual. Hopefully I'm not the only one.

You can add me to that list, I enjoy smelling new game manuals too!

I doubt I'll ever prefer digital copies in place of physical ones, even though I recognize they can at times be advantageous. I love game boxes, the old cardboard ones, and I regret that they got replaced by the average plastic cases.

After all, trees get cut down for worse reasons.

Third perhaps, but it is rather common.
Only one I found from searching is this one [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/9.317178-Do-you-still-prefer-the-physical-copy], and it doesn't have a poll. ;)

How about "no"?
I play games. I don't care about how many I own or if they come in a box.

In recent times I've come to realize that it's owning games that I actually like, and not playing them ;P

But, when I do buy a game, I try to get a physical copy if simply possible, but if it isn't possible one way or the other, I'll settle for a digital copy. The latter I usually end up getting from the PSN Store, with mostly the PSX games in mind.

I have.... too many games, and yes 99.9% of them are physical copies,
if I'm spending 45-50 quid on a game I like to see something for my money! But then again most of my games are for consoles so I couldn't download even 20% of my collection before the consoles would be jam packed!
