I had a job interview today and it's been the first time in a long while since I've had to wear a suit. There's something about wearing a suit that makes me feel 'happy', everyone seems to react to me differently, people smile at me more and I can look like the biggest tool in the world while drinking a coffee at Starbucks. I especially looked like the modern gentleman because of the glorious British weather, i.e. pissing it down with rain.

I actually had exactly the same experience earlier today. My suit also includes a pocket watch though.

I have to wear one to school every day, so I quite like them . In a way they're easier than casual because there's a definite 'right way' to wear them, so no-one can complain about your (lack of) dress sense.

I hate suits. They feel far to restrictive to me, and I don't like wearing layers so it just adds to the discomfort. I am decidedly blue collar so I wear jeans, a t-shirt, work boots, and a baseball hat everyday.

Suits make you look great. I just don't have enough of them anymore. Most of my professional wardrobe consists of business casual garments. I grew too large for my two and three piece suits, and haven't had the money to buy any replacements. Such is life.

Just out of curiosity, why do English guys wear kilts? I wear them on appropriate occasions (weddings and prom mostly) but I do so because it's the norm up here. Just curious.

I admit that suits are awesome, but for some reason they just don't feel like "me". I'll wear them if I need to, but overall, I don't like to wear them... It makes me wonder what I'm going to go into work as after I graduate University....

We wear a suit for our 6th form years. I think a lot of my year don't like it, or don't want to show that they like it, so they've gone for the preppy chinos and blazer look.

I've gone 3-piece pin-stripe, every working day from 7-6, bitches.

I get my suits and stuff used at the salvation army / red cross stores, so I've pretty much replaced most of my clothes with suits, waistcoats and ties.

Enjoying a well made suit, something that someone has put hours and hours into making is no different than enjoying a well made violin or work of art. It's an aesthetic thing. probably the same reason why I love the inner workings of a watch. 100s of years of tradition and quality.

Edit: If wearing a suit is uncomfortable then your suit doesn't fit. Not saying get a tailored one cause they are expensive, just make sure everything fits and is worn in the right place. Slacks at the waist guys, no lower.

Exactly! If the suit is uncomfortable then it doesn't fit. I know they're expensive, but it's worth the comfort if you're going to be stuck in it for a couple of hours. Plus if it feels good then you know you look good it's a win win.
