I've been playing Trilby: Art of Theft and I thought it was pretty good. I just wanted to see what the people of the Escapist thought about his games. Do you like them, love them or loathe them?

I found them terrible.

And that's taking into consideration the extreme limitations of his development.

This is much better than any of his games:

I tried "5 Days A Skeptic" but I didn't find it very challenging or entertaining. For most of the time there is only one action you can do.I made some better games myself by using "The Games Factory". It's a pretty decent programme: you can make some pretty good side-scrollers and some other adventure-themed games. But maybe Yahtzee should stick to reviewing games instead of making them.

I got through 5 Days a Sceptic but had no inclination to try out the sequel. The only decent thing about the game was the start menu music, and he didn't make that.

I thoroughly enjoyed adventures in the galaxy of fantabulous wonderment and 1213. The John deFoe games where alright, though I've never been too big on straight-up point and click adventure games(at least not since '92 or so, Deja vu and shadowgate on the NES where the last adventures to hold my interest through to the end). They aren't great but they keep me around long enough to finish them, which is something I haven't been able to say about a lot of professionally made games in the past decade.

Art of Theft was great. He clearly knows game design inside-out, so if he ever does helm game development studios for current or even the next generation of consoles, there will be a fucking revolution.

I liked Trilby, but the damning difficulty curve was murder as well as that stupid math puzzle in the mansion.

5 Days a Stranger was good, but I actually found myself getting a little wierded out by 7 Days a Sceptic. I actually first played 5 days a Stranger a few years before I even knew who Yahtzee was.

I played the games before I knew about Zero Punctuation. I thought they were pretty good adventure games, if not a bit confusing towards the last one...
To be perfectly honest I played the games, read an entry or two on his website, and thought I'd never hear about or see the guy's work ever again.
How wrong I was...
