I fluctuate randomly between loving and hating myself.
Currently I don't hate myself, because I realise how special I am.
Not because for once I'm doing well in my studies, but because I realise that unlike most people I see and interact with, I actually am self-aware.
It just angers me a little that people don't seem to know about the world around them, nor do they really care.
They are all in their little bubbles, (excuse the lame expression, but thats what I see when I look at some people).
I hear people saying about how "green" they are, and bragging about how socially aware and responsible they are, how they don't use cars, and they recycle all their stuff, but are they truly self aware?
I mean, I can see straight through that. That type of "good" behaviour is just them trying to cover up their insecurities. They want to be seen as good people because they are afraid that some people won't like them.
I don't recycle. I mean, if there's a recycling bin nearby, I'd throw my immediate rubbish in there, no problem.
But I put all my room rubbish in a bag, and throw the full bag into the bin.
I would argue that its not my responsibility as I just want the product inside the packaging, thats what I paid for. The only reason I ever keep some boxes is because they have some value. To store the product when I'm done with it, or the product is deemed less in worth without its packaging, (like videogame cases, but they have a functional purpose so it falls into the storage area as well).
Its the company's fault that I'm not being green, as their packaging isn't recyclable.
Half the time they make me want the product,
Steps have been taken to make me, therefore themselves more green, (i.e. new "greener" videogame cases), but a lot of the time that is at the cost of the products value.
(In the Cases case, it loses some of its functuality as a storage device, as they have now cut holes where the disc is)
Its the governments fault as well. After all, they want us to buy stuff, so they can tax it, they provide services for us at the payment of taxes.
If I'm not being "green" enough for them, then they should withdraw their products and services to me, but obviously they are not going to do that.
Why should I be pressured to cut carbon emissions, if its my society's fault that I need to use electricity and products to maintain a competative edge over my peers?
They should make it consume less energy.
Obviously some companies are catching on to this, and are releasing greener electronics, but the process is undoubtadly slow, (which angers the scientists!).
(Anyway I'd be more worried about bees, and other insects!)
