Yes. After completing, cheats make the game really fun. I've never really bothered with difficulty.
I completed Halo on legendary, Gears of War on Insane, Mass Effect on Insanity, but none of them were quite the joy of their easy settings.
Easy is no where near what cheats offer. They offer challenge but a healthy ton of gifts.

Why can't my rocket launcher have unlimited ammo.

BRING BACK CHEATS!

Yes, they were awesome. Now that that's out of the way, let's focus on more important things, like us Americans grieving that we weren't able to destroy the Canadians at their own game (that would have been fucking hilarious though :D).

Some games still have cheats. So, I can't miss what isn't really gone.

(Canada won, but it was a great game all around)

It was good stuff indeed. But you can't beat a country at their own thing. You can get past them momentarily, but you can't bring them down fully.

I don't like cheating but in old school games for level select or something you just don't care to get up to because you've beaten it a billion times already ...yeah maybe a bit

Up, down, left, right, A+Start!

*Grabs cane* I still remember the days in Gauntlet Legends where I could run around with infinite Thunder Hammers and murder everything. Them's were simpler times. *drops cane*

I do miss cheat codes.

Riot Cheat + Gives all Pedestrians Weapons Cheat + a few others in GTA 3 was just amazingly fun.
Yes! That was so much fun. I couldn't even walk down the street without some random pedestrian blowing up the nearest block-ful of people.

Good times, good times...

yes because they gave a very hard game a purpose. Like Star Wars Episode One The Phantom Menace for ps1. who owned that game and didnt beat it without putting infinite life on and skip to all the good levels?

i remember when i first discovered cheat codes, they offered so much variety, then developers started to get cocky offering us god mode as long as we completed the game on hardcore mode first, then games suddenly started to have minds of their own, offering cheats that disabled achievements, though to be fair, games did get much easier when this happened, i still havent been able to complete GTA:SA without the good old R1 R2 L1 R2 left down right up left down down down, whereas i completed GTA4 3 times without the need of any such code

Most games have cheats still, but the disable achievements and trophies which means less people use them.

One of the reasons while I am ambigious about the development of such things because it has taken a lot of the fun out of gaming for a lot of people who for whatever reasonf eel that if they are going to play a game they have to have those things.

I love the stuff like "cars fly" in GTA games.

Never really cared for more lives, etc.
GTA San Andreas was really fun for the odd cheats and things they had.
swarms of dildo-bearing prostitutes. Buh.

I really miss the good old days where a purple elephant would fart out a cheat code to turn on low gravity, or putting in a sequence of buttons would instantly grant more life.

I actually have never heard about that. Mostly because I was born in the nineties. But it sounds awesome!
