would perfect dark improve from regenerating health? no
turok? no
half life? no
doom? no
resident evil? no

games that had health kits, made it seem much more real and immersive, sure it made things harder, but why not? alot of the fps's comming out are pitifully easy because of the health system.

personally, i would RATHER have to WORK to have full health by the boss fight. sure its irritating, but it also makes you flex your imagination; to think of how you could have handled the previous situation better and learn from it.

another plus to health kits. on games like MW2 on harder difficulties, its near impossible to guage how much damage a single bullet does to you. will it kill in one shot? can i take a few so i can rush and cover?

i mean. hell goldeneye (no the remake is dead to me) was one of the golden moments in fps history, and it had neither health system. you run outta hp? sucks to be you

I like health bars in my survival horror games which help create some tension, but in multiplayer shooters such as COD they aren't needed becuase you can take very few bullets before you die. So I really don't miss the health bar becuase it's still in a lot of games.

No. Mostly because they never really went anywhere. I still see plenty of health bars around, and since I'm a huge fan of exploration-based games, most of the games I play still have them. Most times I play a game with regenerating health it seems to work well enough with the style of play. for the most part, I prefer it in my big-budget, level-based shooting games. It keeps you moving.

Funny you mention a Halo game since you could pretty much blame that series for introducing regen health and no health bars down the line.

Another funny thing is that Halo both started and ended their main franchise with healthbars, but killed them in the middle. How odd.

I have no issue with regenerating health. Makes it easier in certain situations and harder in others. I'm cool with that.

It doesn't make that much of a difference to me. I'm capable of adapting to suit the game. ^_^

(And by that, I mean I'm liable to ignore my health regardless of how it's presented to me.)

Well you have to look at it this way, I asume your mainly talking about the good ol' FPS genre and it's new fangled bloody screen thingy. Well, they started to impliment those because it streamlined the game, because back with health bars, if you got royally screwed in a firefight and by the end you had 15-10% of health, you'd have to back track to the last health kit, so I kinda miss health bars, but I don't miss the back tracking for health.

Not really. The problem I have with regenerating health is how it's almost always done the same way. You take damage, get behind a crate, and five seconds later have full health. I'd prefer something more along the lines of Marvel vs Capcom. You take damage, take cover and recover a portion of it back. Maybe with a very slow recovery afterwards. Like 1 percent every 10 seconds.

I've also heard that some games give you health back for being active. I think it was the new Duke Nukem. So, if you take damage, you gain back health from killing enemies. It's not realistic, but it keeps the game from turning into a bunch of people sitting behind crates waiting to recover.

I really didn't like the lack of health bar in Fable III, don't get me wrong I never died... I just like to see how much health I have before things get dire..... :/

I can't think of many games without them that would benefit from them.

Variety is the spice of gaming.
Fable 3....you had no health bar and it wasn't the easeast thing to see how much health you had...but thoes games are alll kinda messed up

I want to say I missed health bars in Mass Effect 2, but then I try to imagine waiting for the medigel to get done cooling down on Horizon.
