Maybe a handful of times a year? I'm not in the part of California that has public transportation that's worth a damn, so a car is almost mandatory for getting around.

I haven't, but I don't think I ever will. Even buses for school I don't use anymore, since they were cut because my school district is broke.

Not often... and it doesn't come anywhere near my home... but when I do visit Portland, I'll use Tri-met rather than try to drive on the west side of town. Lots of dangerous idiots in cars there.

Mostly I drive on country roads. I still love driving, as a result.

I use it regularly. I don't have my license (despite being 20), so the bus is really my only option due to the fact that everyone in my house who drives works nights and my classes are during the time when they sleep. Using public transportation doesn't bother me in the slightest, the buses are clean, and as long as you look unfriendly, most people won't bother you too much (although I have some stories). The only downside is the fact that I have to walk 2 miles each way, every fucking day to get to and from the bus stop, although I try and look at it from the perspective that the exercise is good for me, so its not all bad.

Im told Winnipeg has improved its bus system, but honestly, before i got the car it was quicker just to walk. I mean that literally, like, save yourself 15 minutes and walk to work.

Awesome saying. *yoinked*

OT: I occasionally use public transit, but only when I have to. Except if you count trains - I love trains.

I prefer to walk most of the time. It's good exercise, better for the environment, and gives me a chance to clear my head and reflect on certain thoughts and the like. Luckily, everything is also within a extremely acceptable walking distance; one to two miles away, at most. I have a little folding utility cart with a basket if it's a shopping errand.

Looks like this. Actually 100% like this. It's a picture of my cart:

Public Transportation? Is that where people cling on the outside of cars to get to place to place? Such a strange concept, with today's cars not having many good hand-hold spots and such. I'd imagine it's difficult at speed...

But seriously, I never lived in area where there was public transportation, except for school and senior buses. It is sort of a foreign concept to me.

All the time.

There are plenty of complaints about it, but it's pretty good. Often it's a few minutes late, but rarely more than that.

There is no public transportation where I live. Which sucks because I need it badly.

My town has a really nice bus service; I use it when it's convenient and I'm not in a hurry to get somewhere. Those buses are cleaner than my car.

Often enough. Problem is that it's often the more convenient and cheap option, which if you considered how expensive, late and generally shit Sydney's public transport it's then easy to see how shit our roads, road networks and the price of fuel and parking is.

When I can, I say 'fuck you car, fuck you Sydney Transit' and walk. Sydney's a big place though, distances are long, so I often can't.

2 Years back it would of been everyday since I needed the bus to get to and from work. Now though it is only as a last resort but that time never seems to come up.

We have that in English too, but worded "a problem shared is a problem halfed".

I use the tram (think of San Francisco's street car) every Monday evening to go to a course in Melbourne's city central. I also use the train now and then to go to a football game, as long as my friend's paying for tickets.

I live in New York, so yeah. Since I don't go to school anymore, I've gone from using the MTA five days a week to using it every once and again (if I'm going somewhere I usually walk).

I'm a University student so public transport is pretty common for me I'm use to getting a bus or taxi into to town. Although lately, I've been walking in as it saves money.

As being in school, the bus is an amazing way from here to there without any cost.

On the other hand, I live north of Detroit in an upper/middle-class area, so we don't have any other forms of public transportation so that we have to buy a car (I wonder where those are made, hint hint marketing strategy) to get around with the lack of sidewalks, bike lanes and passageways around crowded 60 mph roads.
