On discussing this subject on another thread, I was a bit shocked to hear a guy actually say that people using non HDMI tvs was non existent, so I figured I would make a poll here on the subject. I personally know many people who still use non HDMI tvs so, I just wanted to see how common this was among gamers here.

I am sure everyone would like to be able to afford non HDMI tv's but I do not think we are anywhere near that reality yet.

My parents and my sister still have one. If that one breaks though they'll have to buy a LED TV -- I think there's hardly even any LCD models on store shelves anymore where I'm from.

Yeah, my parents have a big old CRT knocking around from the late 80s that my dad occasionally uses to watch old VHS tapes, which is quite amazing really as he generally doesn't like using anything that was invented after 1965. I think they have another small one with a video that my sister used to use.

They have a newer one, no idea what kind, I haven't ever owned a non CRT TV and now I don't have a TV at all, my PC does everything I need *insert PC gaming master race comment here*.

I don't own a TV, so I guess I could say that I don't own a HDMI TV, my monitor has HDMI though...

Edit: but everyone I know who owns a TV, has an HDMI TV.

My sister still uses an ancient 19" tv that has a built in NES system, it is showing it's age, but still works fine.

That is really cool! I have enough old consoles packed away to start a gaming museum, Haha! I didn't remember seeing the NES built into TV's though that is pretty awesome to have. My most prized in my collection is my Magnavox Odyssey though since many have never seen one. I have a special place in my heart for collecting old consoles for some reason. I even have a turbo graphix 16! XD

I really love that tv, so many summers spent playing Super Mario Brothers 3, ah good times. The oldest & I suppose rarest console I have is an old portable pong setup that took about 10 AA batteries. It kinda looked like those old grey brick cell phones. It even had the light gun with it.

I still used a 15 year old crt tv until half a year ago when I was gifted an HD tv. Before that I had my consoles hooked up via my PC monitor and speakers.

Yeah, me. My TV is the olde big black SD sort of tv!

These days I don't watched stuff on it since I con't have the cable that let me watched lived show in my room. I used to play my Wii games on it but not anymore and the whole Comet closing down (a UK eletronic store) flew over my radar meaning I missed out on the closing down sales especially when the store is only a few walking distance from my house.

Couple years back our old CRT finally broke down after 20 years, so I had to finance a new HD. Sister and I still have those giant cubes at our respective rooms at home though, and I won't be lugging it to student flat.

We have an HDMI tv in our living room but in the basement where most of the games are played we have a non-HDMI, SD tv from back in the 90s. It's a pretty good not-so-little tv (that thing looks like it weighs a ton) but my sister and I are saving up for something with an HDMI port so that we can move the PS4 downstairs with most of our other consoles. Mostly because the living room is the worst place to play games because of the lighting. So much glare.

Well I do have a one that works but its not in use since I stopped watching TV several years ago. Internet and PC made it redundant.

Technically yes. I upgraded to a nice 42" HD several years ago, right after I bought my PS3 (go figure, right?). My old CRT is still in my storage shed behind the house because nobody wants a free TV if it's the old kind. As a buddy of mine said, "Might as well be a radio."

Basically, everyone in my family has, at least, one non-HDMI TV in their possession... Yet, only my grandmother, as far as I know, still uses one and not just because she doesn't give two damns of a fuck about HD or anything like that...

Other than that, I do love my [HD] TVs to have the option of being both HDMI and Component/AVI compatible, at least... Just saying...

I have a non HDMI TV in my house, in fact I didn't own an HDMI TV before this year and just about everyone I know owns at least one old TV.

No, not really.
Well, except for maybe really old people, but most of them got a new HDMI TV too.

Can't imagine why someone would still have one, except for retro gaming purposes.

I was using a small LCD TV and a CRT TV up until about five months ago. Ever tried to play games designed for HD on an SD TV? It's horrible. Trying to read the text in games like Mass Effect, Dark Souls 2 and Street Fighter 4 was a nightmare.

As a matter of fact, I own 2. I have a 10 year old 27 inch CRT in my bedroom and a 24' in my son's bedroom. Most of my friends have one as well, mostly in the basement or as a backup tv. Heck, my parents still have those old 56 big screen tv as their main tv.

\When I do get a new one, I'll have to get one with like a million HDMI slots. Or at least more than 2.
