I also am one of those weirdo's with a picture of myself rather than an avatar... Maybe we are just rebels.

I think we have enough long haired bearded people floating around the internet, so my own pic would be unremarkable.

To answer your question, its uncommon, but not unusual.

Also, I didn't vote because I got confused :/

And how can anyone hate star wars, It's just brilliant.
Oh Jesus Christ I thought this narcissistic thread had died, But now it's back like T101 :p

And it's very easy to hate, since the second word in the title is not Trek.

[small]You can thank me later for pointing that out and letting you see the light. Steam gift voucher or basket of muffins will be fine, I'll leave that up to you ;P[/small]

Awesome avatar btw :p

I went for "No" mainly because its close to "No, I dont care really".

I occasionally look at someone's avatar and wonder briefly why they've chosen that particular one but have never got overly excited if it turned out to be an actual photo of them or not.

I would actually say its weirder to make a thread about the subject. Its kind of in line with those girls who take a photo of themselves and then put it on Facebook with a caption like, "Urgh, my boobs look way too big in this dress!".

No, I don't think you're weird. Now, if you had chosen some other part of your body other than your face(by which I mean a close-up of your 'cool' coif) [http://respecta.net/uploads/posts/2009-06/1245501285_allcdcovers_vanilla_ice_to_the_extreme_1990_retail.jpg], then maybe I would, not that 'weird' is always a bad thing...or even a bad thing most of the time.

So I've noticed that I appear to be the only person in the internet to have a real picture of me as my avatar... Am I weird? uncool? confident? scary?

Common, What gives?

EDIT

The 'No' answer should read "No, It's nice to put a face to the words" For some reason it wont let me edit it
Oh, I thought you were making an Adam's Family reference.

Well, to me, everyone's avatar is Justin Bieber...

It's not weird, however, it's pretty common.
You pushed the button too, huh?

Bloody button...

Does that make the rest of The Escapist 'The Empire'

I Fecking hate Star Wars -_-
Yes...yes it does.

Depends, which "Star Wars" are we talking about? Because some might say that there is now more canon Star Wars that are utterly shit than there is canon Star Wars that is good, thus making it hard to call Star Wars "brilliant".

I have me as my avatar too. I'd say scary.

Dammit you look like a person! How can I be smug and douche-y with you if I have the idea that you are a actual human being possibly worthy of respect?

Eh, its your choice.
I tend not to put pictures of me online as:
a) I tend to avoid cameras. The most recent picture of me is probably around 3 years old by now.
b) I favour privacy online. Same reason I'll usually not put my name online, even on "Official" things - where I'll just make up a fake name. I don't like people I don't know knowing who I am in any regard.
c) I'm lazy and its far more effort for me to get a picture off a camera onto my PC, then upload it as a profile pick than it is for me to type in "Cylon", "Gandalf" or "SOPA Shall not Pass", grab a URL link, and set that as my avatar. As you can probably tell, I CBF even doing this that often - my avatar is still going on about SOPA when that's old news by now. I just CBF updating it.

Actually I admire that. The reason my avatar is a drawing of myself made in paint is because I am not secure about my looks and try to avoid it by making a fake picture (I actually have a bigger nose and really, really crapy facial hair) by having a photo of yourself you tell me that you are confident and full of self-esteem. Hat's of to you sir

Haha, some nice responses, Thanks guys, I was genuinely thinking about taking it down, Since I started notices no one else had a picture :p thought I might be committing a forum faux pas.
Challenge accepted! Ha. I've had my own picture up too as you can see, I was looking for a new avatar and just thought I'll just shove my face there, that'll do.

My question is, the eyepatch.. Is it more a necessity or an aesthetic Nick Fury/pirate look you're trying out?
