I grew up on Super Mario Bros. and I still enjoy Mario. I'll sometimes play roms of old Pokemon games too, since I no longer have a system capable of playing the actual games. Some games are just fun, even if they're aimed at kids. An E rating means nothing to me as long as I have a good time playing the game!

No not really. Depends on the game I guess. Mario I play occasionally and I periodically play a few NES games. What really constitutes kid games though. Lego games? No I tried the batman one and that bored me to hell. I think I even played the star wars one once at someones house. However no I really dont play games focused on kids.

Arguably, games like COD and Halo are kid's games since about 50% of the players are 12 or less.

On a slightly more serious note, yes. I play pokemon still.

I have every Mario game released for the Gamecube in America
the LEGO games
And I don't own any DS game that is rated anything other than E

I still love "kids" games, at least the good ones (so very few modern kids games, since most of them are cop outs with Miley Cyrus' odd looking face stamped on it)

I guess some of the games I play could be described as "kiddy," if you squint a bit. Not the ones I've been recently focusing on, though.

When you get into later high school and college, you start realizing that just because you enjoyed it as a kid doesn't mean its kiddy: and kiddy isn't necessarily bad anyway! Pokemon is fun, so we play it. That's all there is to it.

I mean, go back and watch Recess again. Or Ducktales. Or Pinky and the Brain. All the shows of our childhood.

For that matter, watch a show like Avatar: The Last Airbender. It's a kids show, but its an incredibly deep and epic fantasy that could only truly be fully appreciated by adults. Amazing show.

All that to say, kiddy does not equal stupid.
Exactly. Multiple demographic appeal and lasting quality.

...there's probably a bit of irony in us talking about "kids" games, though, ne?

*Shrugs* It depends on what you define as kiddie games I suppose. I own a copy of Pokemon Platinum I got cheap but have not played it yet, so I can't comment. I've also played Naruto games and the like, not to mention the time I logged on a couple of Gundam games.

Truthfully, I find them good for a bit of lite entertainment.

I play Mario games a lot, and replay all my old Gameboy games, which consist of Pokemon, Yugioh and some others.
And I've recently rediscovered my PS1 and my 64, so I've been replaying Spyro and Banjo Kazooie.

No. Come to think of it, my whole collection of games is rated M.

I don't shun 'kiddy' games though. If it's fun, then what does it matter?

I play anything that entertains me because that's all a game, i.e. a medium of entertainment, has to do to be good.
So yes, I play "kid games".

Insaniquarium is a kids game right? The cartoony graphics and cutesy sounds, the simple concept of feeding fish?

I just bought the King's Quest Collection on Steam, and I'm pretty sure those are all E for everyone. What else...
Psychonauts is sort of a kids game, though it has a lot of teen-oriented jokes.
And Strong Bad's E-mails, video games, and Telltale-licensed game have always allowed for a younger demographic by never swearing or showing blood, but they're still good.
