Yup. Started playing did in 1980. I've played many different RPGs over the yers but have always come back to my roots (at whatever edition was current at the time.) Currently in a semi-weekly campaign with the same guys I've gamed with for a couple of years now. It's the perfect way to spend a Saturday afternoon: killing monsters for treasure. :D

Used to.

I had an excellent Storyteller (Played "Werewolf: The Apocalypse" by White Wolf), who managed to get us really into the game, and pumped about what was happening.

When he left (got kicked out by his father, and joined the army, FFS) the magic was gone, and any attempt to reclaim it failed miserably.

Still, those halcyon days make good memories.

Yes, I do. I primarily play D&D 3.5, however I've had a stint of a zombie survival version of the D20 Modern system too.

Nope. Never have, never will. It doesn't make sense to me. At least videogame RPGs make some sense if very little.

I wanted to start, but everyone I knew that played any sort of variation was older than me, and had gone to college by the time I wanted to start. Lame.

Not to mention their way of playing differs SEVERELY from any sort of standard rules. They just kinda made up random dungeons, no maps or anything.

Played around with a little 4'th edition D&D. I lost interest: our games went very slowly because of a few players in the group (every time we'd play, had to be reminded on what their abilities did, had to be reminded it was their turn, couldn't make any moves until they'd thoroughly studied the (unchanged) map), so we stagnated alot. Ideas for new things popped up WAY faster than they could happen in game. New campaigns were thought of, and new people constantly brought in (some desiring to switch to 3.5, or 3.0, or blardegarble rules...).

It got boring. I stopped showing up to games.

1. Mod voice: don't troll.

2. "Acting like something from a fantasy universe" doesn't really cover most of what goes on in a tabletop roleplaying game. Oftentimes, people are simple narrating actions -- games go better when you don't bother to make up in-character lines for every single trivial thing. Many people play tabletop RPGs for squad-on-squad tactical wargaming fun in place of or in addition to storytelling / character-immersion fun, too.

3. The idea that people play games because they "can't handle real life" is rather silly when it's coming from someone on a gaming website. I'm pretty sure you realize there are other reasons people pursue entertainment and leisure activities.

4. Also, you forget to use the conditional mood ("I would feel like a fucking loser"), so your statement indicates that you feel like a fucking loser right now. Woops!

Wizards use the Vancian system in 3.5...
I said right in my post I was using a spell points variant... way to read...
Vancian isn't spell points, Vancian is memorizing specific spells to be used each day.
I know what vancian casting is, you misinterpreted what I said...

Aye... have played over ten years now. I am also a Game Master. Mostly i play Shadowrun, Earthdawn and... D&D (urks). But i think i have played over twenty different games. (And designed some myself too)

So you could say, this is one of my hobbies.

I used to play World of Darkness, Exalted Aberrant (great superhero game) and D&D 3/3.5 but sadly the GM wasn't very good and so we kept changing games every few weeks because he got into a mood because someone did something unexpected/he was having a bad day/there was a Y in the month. The only reason I don't anymore is the group disbanded and I've since moved and haven't found a new group.

On that note, anyone know a good way to find a new group?
