I don't mind either, as long as I have someone that I can trust to play with.
Co-op on campaign modes can be really fun if it is done right. But some games are really better solo, like Fallout 3 or Bioshock. If they were to add multiplayer to those I think it would ruin the experience for me.

If its shooter then rather would go for multiplayer, i get bored running aorund killing random spawns for no reason at all, and with real people at least its more dynamic.
For other genres it really depends with what in mind the game was made. Some i like only for their singleplayer, some moslty mutliplayer and some manage both.

Mostly single player, although if a game really catches my interest I might try multiplayer. The only exception to this (for me) is Team Fortress 2, for obvious reasons.
