I wonder how many people have given either a decent shot? I know it took me a LONG time to find the beers that were right for me, and before that I thought it was all piss water. But I also found I didn't like wine either, keeping the view that I could get sour grapes cheaper by finding old grapes at the grocery store. I drank liquor, in many a myriad form. I still prefer vodka or rum (spiced, and not) for my mixed drinks and social lubricant, scotch for drinking straight (I like Glenlivet and Lismore). But I digress. There are as many different kinds of beer as there are wines, and a great many people in my experience don't take the time to learn about them before dismissing any them.
I've had some beers I really liked. One of them tasted really chocolate-y and had almost no hops flavor. I've had similar experiences with wines. I've had some that literally taste like sour grapes with an astringent mouthfeel, but I've also had some that drank well. I kind of love red sangria.

Depends on my mood. I like beer most of the time but wine gets me more drunk it seems. Plus wine is a far more kind hangover. Going by taste alone I would have to go with red wine.

As an Australian it pains me to say this and I'm often shunned my my own people, but I prefer wine over beer. In fact, I hate beer so much that even the smell of it makes me feel sick. Then again I would much prefer a nice whiskey.

Depends on the situation. If you have some good food and nice company, then wine is preferrable, along with some monocles and top hats if possible. If you are tired after a hard day of doing whatever it is you are doing with your life every day, then I think beer is better. And if you need not a drink, but an instrument to get you from point A to point B, point A being "Sobriety" and point B being "Floor", then vodka is the thing.

I don't really like any alcohol (I'm such a square). But if I had to choose, I'd go with beer, because the mere scent of most wine is repulsive to me. I remember when I was a toddler drinking my dad's beer, too... lol

Apparently young kids really like the taste of beer XD

I cannot for the life of me drink beer, although I do love alcoholic beverages in general, and gin&tonic in particular. Wine can certainly be delicious depending on which kind.

I love both but I'll take a tasty craft beer over a wine any day. I'm a real hop-head when it comes to beer.

Chose wine, if real ale was included in the 'beer' section I might of reconsidered, but over here, 'beer' pretty much means 'lager.' And I hate lager. I also hate a lot of cheap, or light ales.

As for wine, white wine tastes like battery fuel to me, all of them. But a rich, fruity red wine is delicious, with food, on it's own, can't go wrong. Red wine also makes me feel good, while beer makes me feel bloated and spirits give me a headache.

Only other alcohol I'll touch is malt whiskey, preferably at least 6 years old.

Eugh... I like both, but I tend to be more discerning in my beers than my wines. I'll be just as happy with a $10 bottle of Shiraz as with a $30 bottle.[footnote]These are the criminally high Canadian prices, btw, so for you Americans or other countries a $10 bottle of wine is probably the same thing as a $3 bottle of wine. Fragging government booze monopolists.[/footnote] But I tend to go for craft beers and beer that I actually think tastes good rather than the popular brands.

Wine is too bitter for my liking, it's also too expensive.

Beer is cheap and refreshing *chugs a Peroni down*

Stout. Guiness is okay, Murphy's is better. Barring that, I like a good Scotch (Grouse or Glen Livet are good options) neat or a Jameson and 7up.

Budweiser is for people with no taste buds.

I don't drink alcohol at all. But as far as my preference, I prefer wine. Its colorful, and you can pretend its grape juice instead of cat piss if you try hard enough. It certainly smells like cat piss and tastes like mouthwash.

Beer however looks and smells like vomit. Its made from hops which unlike grapes most people wouldn't feel like eating on its own.

From a marketing standpoint as I'm none of the things that beer is traditionally geared towards, I'm obviously meant to enjoy wine like a good lush.

I want to try mead, because its made from honey. I want to see how they managed to fuck up something as good as honey. I've already experienced how they fucked up something as good as Jell-o.
