Actually I never responded to the OP.

To answer your question, I think I'm going to be the only one here who regrets their tatoo. My intention was to design a tarot deck on my back. I went through the process of having all the outlines done for the cards arranged in a figure eight and created a design for the World and the Wheel at the hub of the design. But then I got stuck. Every time I come up with a good concept for a card I end up improving, altering it, changing it to better suite the message that card expresses in a way that's meaningful to me. But it's a never ending cycle. No matter how much or how little thought I put into the design, my mentality changes before it can be fully realised. It's as if I dedicated myself to Tzeentch when I got that tatoo, so now I do my best not to think about it too much.

The only thing I regret about my first tattoo is that I didn't take enough care of it so it's a little patchy in places. It still looks good (it has sort of a marbled effect as a result of the patchiness) but I would have preferred the full colouring...

Still, I learnt from my mistake and took great care with the three that followed.

Also i heard it hurts like hell.
Not really, sure they aren't licked on by kittens but after the outline, they are a cake walk. The outline is the worse bit, partly 'cos it only just started and your body is like " oh fuck!", the other part being they press harder to make it look sharper in contrast to your skin.

Me and my friend agree it's like a sharp scalpel cutting your skin at first, which sounds horrific but it's not that bad.
I found the shading to be the worst. The outline wasn't a problem since the area wasn't sore. After the artist has been working on the area for over an hour and keeps going back and forth over the same raw spot hurts a lot more. From the people I've asked they tend to be split, though I think it depends on what kind of tattoo you have.

Mines a cat pouncing up my back so there isn't that many hard lines, but he did do lots of layers of color and shading. Also on topic, I don't regret it. I saw that picture back in middle school and wanted it as a tattoo and got it five years later. I didn't change my mind then and I still love it.

Personally I don't like the idea or the look of a tattoo, and it's kind of a turnoff for me.

.. "This thread isn't about people that DONT like tattoos duh it's about people that have them!" Yeah well I felt like sneaking in my comment on this rather than making a new thread entirely in order to voice my opinion. I dont mind that people get them, but I wouldn't personally and I wouldn't want to engage in a realtionship with someone who's got one (shallow it may be, but it's a bit like dating someone with a butt for a face, and esthetic preference).
What? It's nothing like dating a person with a butt for a face. It's dating someone who is ok with body modding, it's like not dating somebody 'cos they like to put art on there walls.

That is all tattoos are to us, putting art on our walls. My skin is a blank canvass, I don't like blank and I want to decorate and be pretty ...

Not dating a person for something so shallow is sad, they could be great for you and be mr/misses perfect but you will ignore that 'cos (s)he has a tat? I feel sorry for you, I hope you get over that someday as A LOT of people have them these days.
What can I say? My type of person has never been one with tattoos, because a certain type of person GET tattoos. Maybe it's wide spread, so is smoking and I don't like people that smoke just based on that smoking thing... I won't completely ignore people for such things because that would be a dick move, but I will not be interested in pursuing a relationship with that person.

Ignore the butt for a face thing it was stupid and didn't fit in at all X3, but still. I DON'T like "body modding", and I don't agree it's the same as someone putting art on their wall.

---

Getting a tattoo is a choice that reflects who you are, and that who is not someone compatible with me. I also don't like piercings... I'm a sucker for a natural look I guess, or am I? I LOVE hair and hairstyles, clothes are great when they are difrent and fun and makeup can also be neat if done right, but I simply do not like these "body mods". Does that really make me a bad person?

I DON'T feel sorry for myself because of this, and I frankly think your sorry is wasted. There is nothing wrong with not liking the look of this particular thing or any other thing for that matter. I'm not trying to stop anyone from getting a tattoo, frankly I don't care and you shouldn't care unless your trying to get with me cause then you made the wrong move X3.

Except, it's not ... The amount of people who have tattoo's is immense. They all have them for different reasons, girls getting them to remind them of loved ones who have died and bikers who get them 'cos they are into the biker look.

Everybody from school teachers to doctors, writers and film critics all have tattoo's. Saying you don't like people with tattoo's 'cos the people who get them are a certain kind of person is stupid.

Saying you aren't compatible with these people is saying you aren't compatible with anybody, if you watched a hand full of "Miami ink" you would know this.

Smoking is completely different, smokers smell, make your house smell, waste money smoking etc etc Getting a tattoo is one tattoo for whatever reason.

"I won't completely ignore people for such things because that would be a dick move, but I will not be interested in pursuing a relationship with that person." makes no sense, there Ok to talk to and hang out with but you wont have an intimate relationship with them? You can't catch tattoo's, it doesn't effect performance or there ability to love.

How is it not like putting art on the wall? You have a blank wall you put something pretty on it and liven up the wall, you put a bit of your personality and taste for people to see. Tattoo's are the same, it's the same as putting a pink flash in your hair, the same as putting blue eye liner on ...
but without the cheek piercings.

The only difference is tattoo's are more permanent than a pink flash or dressing like a cyber goth. The clothes you wear out to meet your friends are your "tattoo's", I am pretty sure you don't go cyber goth one day then barbie the next, followed up by emo day.

You have a style and you stick to it, tat's and piercings are just another form of self expression.

I feel sorry for you 'cos it's just such a closed mind set and you are severely limiting your relationships 'cos according to you, you wont date people with tats and since that is pretty much everybody, your screwed!

Even the most heavily tattooed people can be the nicest, warmest people you could meet. None tattooed people could be the WBC, the difference between the inked and none inked is all in your head. I do find it interesting you powerpuff girl of choice is the badass, voted most likely to be inked ... I seriously think out of all the powerpuff girls she is the one most likely to get a tattoo, if I had to choose of course (that would be a pretty interesting thread I feel)

You can choose to not like tats but don't shove us in a box as not worthy or something, you might not mean it to so arrogant but that's the vibe I get from you

No, I am looking for a date, mainly 'cos I seriously love tattoo's and you hate them. Sorry to be so blunt but it's who I am and your being really harsh.

Nope. I regret getting it done since that hurt like a *****, especially when the whoreson did the nipple. But I wanted it, I designed it myself and it holds special meaning to me. And as for those who told me "You will regret it when you are 70." what I would regret more is not living my life the way I want just to gain the approval of a bunch of jackasses I do not care about.
And who cares if it will look ridiculous when I am 70? That part of my body is gonna be a trainwreck no matter what I do.

I'm sorry, what that you thinking 70 year olds don't care how they look? Let me guess, you think they don't have social lives and aren't active either right?

Besides, it looks ugly and out of place on most people long before 70, that was just a particularly funny image.
of coarse they do

but not in the same way if youre 20, no matter what you do you will still look like a 70 year old, you can look good but you cant look exactally the same as when you were 20...trying to look young when your past it is called "mutton dressed as lamb"

and if your 70 with a tramp stamp are you EVER going to wear somthing that would reveal it in most situations? no..I dont think so,

I mean you CAN get tatoos where you can easyly hide it if need be

anyway it doesnt matter..I think tatoos are eather somthing you "get" or you dont (figurativly not literally)

do some people get retarded tatoos for retarted reasons? yes

so some people get tatoos because it means somthing to them? yes

do both people on eather end have regrets? yes

do some people love their tats till the end of days? yes

in the end who do we get tatoos for? well we (generally) get them for ourselfs and not for people who scorn and tell you you'll regret it

I cant understand why people dont like tatoos...but FUCK ME the amount of times you hear them go on and about it..its like "shut up!"
