Whatever, just wash your hands.
Ive been thinking about the whole online distribution thing that sony was trying to pimp out with the psp go and how alot of publishers seem to like the idea of online only and think it will eventualy take over all physical media but aside from all the other things we lose with that one is probably game renting. Its not impossible for them to do but Id say its rather unlikely.

So what does the escapist do? do you still rent or not?

I never rent. Maybe once in a while I loan a game from a friend, but at all other times I buy games (or snatch my friends downloaded copies from their hard drive).

Pretty much all I do on console is rent. I bought brutal legend only to be duped and find out it was a subpar rts, once bitten twice shy and all that. For pc I don't buy all that often, I pretty much stick to old standards, co-op friendly games my brother and I goof off with and what not. I AM going to buy dantes inferno though and maybe gow3, not sure on that one.

Renting PC games isn't really a viable option, and even if it was I would most likely still buy everything anyways as I like owning things.

Used to. Now I pretty much just buy things (or pirate, if they're no longer widely available).

I rent nearly everything. My piracy rates went to zero when I got a Gamefly account.

I'm a gamefly subscriber, as of now one of the only two here that are, it seems. I too have felt the sting of a bad purchase, more than a few times, so better to rent a game and buy it if I like it. Demos have a habit of skipping over the really bad parts of a game, so those are not a good gauge.

Gamefly's been a good service, and funnily enough one I've used for buying games more than anyplace else in the last year or so.

I would... but the local rent-a-thing shop only stocks PS3 games and DVDs. And a tanning booth. And a "fitness centre." and an internet station. But no Xbox games :(

All the time. Most of the games I'm interested in are fun to play, but way too short to warrant dishing out 60 or 70 Euros. Also, since buying Turok and being so utterly disappointed with it, I've made it a personal policy to rent any and all games I'm interested in before considering a purchase, even ones you can make virtually no mistakes with as a fan.

Buy since I'm a PC gamer. But have rented while visiting with cousins/friends who owned N64s or PS2s.
