I prefer it, but I guess it's not a deal-breaker. I'm somehow always too close to my male gamer friends to date them, unfortunately.

As someone else said before, I don't date. Or at least, haven't yet. I haven't even eased into some kind of relationship without dating.

I'm so alone.

On topic: It would simply be a bonus. Not a make or break. Unless of course he were REALLY into gaming or REALLY opposed to gaming. Then I suppose it could be a problem.

Yeah. They are either:

a) casuals, that talk only about Sims or other crap
b) so hardcore that they neglect their looks... or intellect
c) worse than you in terms of gaming.

edit: They might be also d) COSPLAYERS.

Or they can be MMO players - completely incapable of losing an agument

That falls under casual or hardcore category too.

Although I hardly consider MMOs hardcore - the only "hard" part of them is sacrificing your life to grind hours and hours to be slightly better.

Gaming is but a hobby. A girl does not need to be a gamer to attract my attention. There's more to it than sharing hobbies. Sometimes differences really work well.

For me, finding someone who thinks on the same level as me is more important than anything, so yes, I'd have to say I'm very open to the concept of finding a significant other than appreciates my hobbies as much as I do. Sadly, because of my situation and because of the fact that most of my hobbies, which I'm sure are shared by most of the people on these boards, are hobbies that the fairer sex aren't interested in. Or not interested enough.

The fact that I also despise humanity and I'm really on this planet for the benefit of my robotic overlords that sent me back through time to assassinate Sarah Connor doesn't help either.

It would be nice to have a girlfriend who wouldn't be anti-gaming. Shared interests are always nice, luckily I have more interests then just gaming so it's definatly not a deal-breaker. But I draw the line at the moment when our personal time together would suffer because of gaming, from either side. It would be fun to play together sometimes, but when she (for example) ensists on raiding every night in her fav MMO it would be over soon.

well no, but it helps.

Although if a girl was interested in me period gaming would be the last thing on my mind

No, but it is a nice plus. Especially since you can share something that brings so much joy to both your lives.
This. I don't care too much if a girl likes games or not, but it would be something in common which is always a good sign. To be honest, my perfect girl would enjoy acting (since that is probably the only thing, along with cinematography, that I enjoy more than gaming).

No but it was a nice surprise to find my girlfriend played Super Mario bros 3, although it was a little embarrassing when she beat me at Street Fighter II in front of my friends.

No, I don't require it, but it doesn't matter anyway, I don't have much of a romantic life, so it's never been an issue. *sigh* Now I'm sad.......

It doesn't matter, but it would be nice if I could hop onto Xbox Live with my girlfriend, as long they don't look down on it I'm happy.

I maintain that if video games are a top priority for you, then you're probably not ready to be seriously dating anyway. But that's just me.

That being said, I actually prefer if my girlfriends don't play games. I dated this girl one time who was into video games and we had a lot of fun together, so long as we were playing co-op games. The first time we booted up Smash Brothers Brawl and I beat her, she got extremely mad.

"You're supposed to let me win"

"You just beat me 3 times in a row!"

"I'm a girl, you're supposed to let me win!"

We broke up a week later. If that was any indication about where the relationship was going I wanted to get out.
