If someone surprises me - like sneaking up behind me and scaring me - I usually give out a high-pitched yelp followed by a string of curse words and/or blasphemy. Not very lady-like I'm sure but fuck it, I don't want to be a lady =P

I yelp and lash out at whatever startled me. I once kickd a fellow in the groin because I was in a haunted house and he jumped out at me.

... Yep, my first intict when scared if to harm whatever caused the fear.

I've never screamed, save the singing sort, except on two occasions.
Once was my first time on a rollercoaster, looking down from the top and the point right as you're going down.

And second was the link below. I've done all the scary mazes and screamers and stuff and it never got me, but goddamnit I lunged back the first time I did this. It's in korean, but just scroll down slowly. you'll see what I mean.

What the hell!? That's Scary Thread material right there. Keep it where it belongs! Almost gave me a heart attack...

OP: Nope, I don't really scream. The worst I ever do is go "Nyyuuuuuuhhh-aaaahhh!". Also, there was a really huge cricket in my shower this morning, which made me say something along the lines of "HOLYMOTHERofjesusturd...[small]balls[/small]. Well, that was unexpected. And gross. You, my friend, are about to go down the toilet."

And, of course, thanks to Rawker here, I now know that I may cover my mouth and gasp/whisper, "Jesus Christ!", like a girl.

Point is, my reaction varies, so I can't really vote in your little poll.

well, hardly a scream, but more of a yell and profanity, so i put yes since it seems to fit the category.

Occasionally yes. Last I did was when I saw a roach skittering across the kitchen floor (got out of there in one leap. And they say white people can't jump). I screamed for my boyfriend to kill it, which he didn't and thus it got away. As a result, I told him he wasn't a man (since one of his manly duties is to kill mean scary bugs) and he started teasing me for my screaming at the bug.

Yes, often.

If I'm not just plain shrieking like a school girl, I will make some kind of incoherent noise. A word or a phrase.

screaming seems like such an unnatural response to me. Jumping sure, even running way trembling with terror and swearing profusely in a shaky voice(worse fright i have ever gotten), but i have never had the compulsion to scream before.

I never scream , i don't find screaming very manly
Obviously you've never heard any heavy metal before. I troll, mate. I troll.

Personally, it depends on the situation. If someone jumps out from behind a corner and surprises me, I jump backwards and occasionally swear of punch out. If something genuinly scares me, I'll to the same except more movement in the opposite direction, and screaming sounds much more raw from me than a single note. More like the into to All That Remains' This Calling than most screams by Judas Priests' Rob Halford.

The only times you should ever scream.

1: You've just stood on a plug (especially a British plug, those 3 pronged bastards).

2: Some twat just knocked over your pint.

3: When Skyrim is in your hands.

4: Your biscuit just broke off in your cup of tea.

Any other situation is unforgivable.
i laughed so much of this xD but yeah pretty much what daystar wrote... tho... i will prob scream and cry when i got D3:CE in my hands :p

... does screaming include running around the house when overjoyed back when i got into the BF3 alpha trial ?

I let out a high pitched yelp if I'm startled or scared, but don't scream. Screaming is a waste of energy that could be used hitting whoever just startled you.
Well, I said that I do scream but it's more or less this, haha. Zombies, bears, splicers as a, "Where in the HELL did you come from!?" moment. In real life, I usually just jump out of my skin. Very seldom would I straight out scream but I have let out a bit of a yelp before, haha.

Aye, occasionally I will shout at things that come out of nowhere, but mostly it's either just a jump or a yelp.

I don't scream but if I get startled I literally almost jump. All my friends find it super hilarious and they take me to see horror movies only to watch me jump >.>
