I do, I love cd's. Of course they don't have the vintage charm of vinyls, but I'll take them over downloading (legal or not, that's not the question) any day.

I think it's because I don't feel like I am really buying something when I shop on iTunes. I need something real, something material to feel good about buying music, or else it's just not the same. And there's the collector in me too, I'm very proud of my cd collection, it impresses people :p

So, what do you think about cd's? Are they here to stay, or obsolete?

I mainly buy on iTunes because I don't have a favorite band and tend to find I only like 2-4 songs on an album if any so what's the point wasting my money on the other songs, although that said I will buy some CD's that are unavailable on iTunes.

I download everything for free, and if I enjoy the material enough, I'll go out and buy it.

I would buy CD's if I didn't get all my music off YouTube. I've only owned one CD in my life, but I've never been into music.

I would buy CD's because I like having the solid object, which is why I never buy any product through digital distribution. You can also listen to your CD in your car, computer, Stereo, CD player, cat, and anything else, where if you download something you can only listen to it on that computer. Unless you make it into a CD.

I think I might buy a TMBG CD. Do you think I should ruin my frabjous collection of CD?

Okay, firstly, no TMBG album is better than Flood. I just want that said, so there's no confusion. Not even the self-titled debut album.

Secondly, in response to this thread topic, I buy so little music. Mainly, I buy a couple CDs a year, or receive them as gifts for bands I enjoy and really want. The rest I burn from my friend's CDs or take directly off their drives. Which, I guess is Peer-to-Peer, in the most analog way you can get. The rest I download song by song from the Hype Machine blog lists.

Cats are great, I hear girls have some slot in them, can you put CD's there? Oh, and if ever here anything about lycanthropic mammals being able to play floppy disks and CD's, that's complete bollocks. Okay, I made this whole post because I wanted to say bollocks again. BOLLOCKS.

I don't think I could ever buy a They Might Be Giants CD because everytime I notice I liek a lot of songs fromt he same album, I look up the other songs on it and they suck balls. Or maybe bollocks.

I've never bought music on the computer. I find it needless to pay for something that's not physical. I like the fact that I don't rely on the computer for my music and if I lose my ipod and can't get into my itunes account I'll have all the cds there to latch on too. I have gazillions [yes that many] CDs and I love the sacuraty. Plus as others have said you can play them in cars and such. Oh and yes, I do have a slot that I can play music in :D

No, I'm old now (21) and have all the music I ever wanted. Most of them came off of CD's, but I haven't gotten anything new in a while. Still listen to the radio though.

Totally prefer CDs. Call me old-fashioned I guess, I just don't really get into the idea of paying for ones and zeros. The P2P stuff is useful, and certainly tempting, but I try to avoid being a soulless leech as much as possible. I use P2P stuff to scout new prospects and find stuff thats otherwise really hard to come by. If I like it, and can find someplace to buy it, it gets bought... and the mountain continues to grow. Also, I don't care what anyone may claim on the matter: CDs still sound better than burned music to me and while that may be nothing more than subconscious disillusion on my part its my story and I'm sticking to it.

I've only ever bought one CD, which was a Maroon 5 album when I was like 13 or something. Then I discovered I could download music on the internet.

This, plus they're more reliable. I actually got into a great big internet smackdown on another forum over the CD versus download issue: He thought cd stores would disappear within 10 years (now 8) while I disagreed. I tried to impress on him that people just prefer that security and feeling of ownership that you don't get from a bunch of 1s and 0s; going from discs to downloads is a more fundamental change than from vinyl to cassettes to CDs.
I have a problem with my PC's ripped music library: they sometimes skip a very small but noticeable part of the song - or repeat it. This develops in some songs and never leaves unless I get out my lovely physical, portable, transferrable and- most important- durable hard copy to re-rip the songs onto the PC. Whether this problem can be fixed or not misses the point: it's just much simpler to have a hard copy.
