yes. if someone made a definitive media center home console, that would conquer the gaming world fast. show how casual gaming would be supported, as well as hardcore gaming, make sure netflix, blu ray, and expecially youtube (hulu would be nice) are supported. make a full web browser! i dont know why current gen consoles dont have them, but they absolutely should. get rid of specialized point systems no one can really calculate for your store, and launch with ONLY good casual and mainstream titles. games should not need to install, they should run off of the disk. make sure your exclusive titles are the best in the market. microsoft nailed this at the time with halo, ps3 with god of war and uncharted.

picture in a picture for watching a movie while gaming, or multitasking by playing music off your hard drive for the background audio (would not be too difficult to implement with a standardized file system), allow the web browser to open in game as well.

make sure the store has music, video, rentals, and games with sales going on all the time. like if the itunes store and steam had beautiful babies.

also: make a mouse and keyboard (of your choice!) easily available. i would gladly pay 50 bucks for a attachment to allow me to use my mouse and keyboard on my xbox. (pc gamers would loveyou)
It sounds like a computer with an optional controller.

the mouse/keyboard would be optional. controllers are easier for most people. also, it really wouldnt. there would be no major customization, all the hardware would be the same. the software would be a specialized os for the console, little customization (background and stuff) on that, and little set up. the only real differences would be a web browser and youtube from consoles, plus a better store.

Hey I'm open to a new console. I mean I'm not one to judge before you try because it might end up becoming passable

Unless they unveiled theirs at the start of the next console generation and have the backing of the entire gaming industry. It's a huge gamble to even enter the competition, if a company's product fails there out tens or possibly hundreds of millions of dollars...
