It's amazing. The story is great, the gameplay is great, and it allows a for a lot of freedom. Not TOTAL freedom, but there are still a lot of given ways to tackle any situation.

It's the most fun game I have played in YEARS. The only things that brought it down were the boss fights (only the first one was really bad. I was prepared for the others.) and the VERY sub-par final chapter. But even so, it was one of the best games I have ever played.

I liked it, the aesthetic was amazing, the gameplay was solid, there was enough choice etc

I suppose it helps if you've never played the original... Apparently it was developed by Christ himself so mere mortals could never craft a worthy sequel.

It's a great game, but it has some glaring flaws. The boss battles and the ending(s), to name two.

But it looks great, it plays great, it feels great. Just an plain great game.

Yeah, I think it's good.

Not without its flaws of course, most notably the boss fights and endings, but still easily among the best games of the year.

It's my favorite game. I wasn't a big fan of the original, but it took what I liked, added some other things that I liked, and it came out amazing.

Definitely give it a shot.

it was pretty good I'd actually have to say great because it had most of the best things in gameing and it did good to okay at each thing. Also I rather like the little ending clips because the have wonderful writing especially the pro augmentation ending IMO.
P.S. last boss SUCKS!!!

I like it. It's not QUITE living up to the hype but I never played the old ones so I can't compare them. My one complaint is the fact that ammo seems hard to come by at times.

DX:HR is very good indeed. It's still confidentally holding onto first place in my personal GOTY rankings for 2011.

That said, it's hard to explain exactly what I liked about it, but I felt a real tension in sneaking around the levels. The atmosphere is thick and sustained and the art design a very cool take on the cyberpunk aesthetic.

If you're reluctant to spend money, wait for it to go on sale somewhere and snap it up.

I thought it was a very good game, nothing groundbreaking but totally worth it. There is enough control over how you want to play the game and the missions are very fun and exciting. The augmentations are nice and very and there were only one or two that were hands down useless. For the most part every augmentation had a use if you came across the right situation. I haven't played the DLC yet, but I've heard very good things about it.

Of course, game's not perfect, it seems like it really wants to be a third-person-shooter, it definitely pulls the camera out as often as possible. There are only a handful of side missions, which is kind of disappointing, but they are very long and in depth for side missions. Oh yeah, and the bosses are terrible, but if you know one thing about this game, it's probably that the bosses are terrible. One piece of advice though, the first augmentation you get should be the "lift heavier objects one", that seemed pretty useless to me, but goddamn is that thing necessary for the first couple sections. Also, if you suck at reading people like I do, get the social enhancer aug as early as possible, that one's a godsend.

All in all, does have it's flaws, but very good nonetheless and you should give it a try.

Very average game. Absolutely agree with those commenting on lack of depth and consequences. Very poorly executed boss fights, and rather drab hub cities.

One more thing...whilst playing, I knocked out a guard, and then put two silenced rounds into his head once he hit the ground. A moment later, another guard found his corpse...and revived it. Apparently, the game only recognises the fact of lethal/non-lethal takedowns, not an execution committed after a non-lethal takedown. That's inexcusably bad.

5.5/10

I found it extremely enjoyable, even though you switch between first- and third-person cameras when wall-hugging and not. That gave me a couple of headaches.

Good game? Yes.

Great game? No.

Lots of potential though. If they decide to make another one, I'll be watching. The thing about Human Revolution is that it doesn't have many faults, but the faults that it DOES have is rather huge. Therefore it doesn't take that much to fix them (except the disappointing ending). I'm hoping they'll eventually realize and emphasize on this.

I thought it was huge fun. Personally, about half way through I got tired of starting at vents so I got all the sprint augs and ran around punching and shooting and whatnot. Made it a ton of fun for me, personally. I'd definitely recommend it. Personally, I didn't hate the ending and the boss battles were a bit weird but I found the stealthy crap not to be too exciting so I was well stocked with RAWKIT LAWNCHAIR for when they showed up.

Also, if you do get it, try not to use the social enhancer. I won all the social battles without it. I found it a lot more fun that way.

Yes, its a good game.

Its a WRPG, which usually don't have a great deal of depth. I would say Bethesday games are the exception to the rule, not the maker of the rule.

In any case I would call it a stealth game with strong WRPG elements. The way you tackle problems and the game is almost exclusively relevant to what you sink points into.
Baldur's Gate, Diablo, the original Deus Ex, Fallout (1 and 2), Planescape: Torment, The Witcher, Master Of Magic...there's a lot of very deep WRPGs. It's just that a lot of games that aren't really WRPGs lay claim to the title. DX: HR is one of them, in fact.

Anyway, Human Revolution is a really good game. You can pick it up for $40 now, and I'd definitely say it's worth it. It's not likely to appear on many people's "favourites ever" list, but other than the fact it's not nearly as deep as the original, there's not a ton wrong with it.

You can singlehandedly kill Detroit's entire police force. You can take the refrigerator from someone's house and drop it on a passerby's head. You can dash up to some guy talking about politics and deliver a mighty wallop to his jaw from which he will never awaken. And in the tradition of the original, it has cringe-inducing, but funny, racial stereotypes and terribly faked accents everywhere!

There is just something about it that makes me play it over and over again. I can't get enough. I need more. It's a great game in my opinion. But I can see how my opinion doesn't count much.

God damn internet connection bailed as I went to post so I'll make what was a long post short.

It is a great game, it has a good story, a fantastic aesthetic and most importantly excellent level design. It was never going to be as good as the original that was a given but it is still brilliant and a worthy addition to the DX name.

Also it is extremely fun if you want it to be. Taking down the whole detroit city police force with a vending machine for example is hilarious.

It has rough edges but they remind me of older games and how they would actually add to a game. What would the original DX be without all the little things you could exploit. Go watch the speed run for the original yourselves to see what I mean. The A.I can be dumb but exploiting it is all the more fun, I mean what would MGS be like if the guards were as intelligent as those in F.E.A.R?

The game gets some valid criticism but I would not take the advice of anyone who first played the game with the object and mission locators/indicators on. It ruins the game. All exploration and reward is lost. Turn it off and you will be finding new ways to complete missions and other secrets after multiple playthroughs.

Finally it's cheap and I would say it's an essential purchase. Go buy it, ignore all naysayers.
Please, explain to me how it has a good aesthetic.

I shall go brew some of my favorite tea in preparation for my elitist, humorous chuckle at your inevitably foolish response.
Are you kidding me? I think it will be I who will have to laugh at your own ignorance/stupidity. Please pick one.

The artistic direction is excellent, the gold and black aesthetic is vibrant and carries with it a sense foreboding fitting the themes of the story. It brings the world to life, especially in the cityscapes/hubs where the uses of lighting create a suitable atmosphere and mood.

Furthermore the aesthetic is one which is unique to HR and so gives the game an unmistakable visual identity much like the original Deus Ex' cold blue aesthetic did.

I love it and cannot wait for the next game which I believe is a remake of the original (unless I read it wrong as I have hoped for it to be remade) and have completed it many times using many different methods.
Best part was I got it for 10 quid :D
