I would rather have a middle option, if it was a scale from 1 being a complete mess and 10 being A complete master peice I wiuld have to say probably a 7, it looks like it will be good but it all depends on how balenced the classes are (and yes, each faction will count as a class because they all have their strengths and weaknesess.)

I hope so. If it does do well, it might be the only reason I purchase a PS3. It really is a great premise, and should be the best online multiplayer since... Well, ever!

I really don't know how the leadership will be handled. They say you can choose to become a higher rank and eventually choose to command. Well I'm sure the 12 year old who cries when he watches anything other then cartoons will want to be a leader, and so will every other scum of the virtual world. In games like this leadership should trump 1v1 skill, and if that's the case, there better be a screening process for commanders.

If you thought Halo 3 was a mess, just wait for MAG. Imagine having 200+ annoying 12-year-olds all in one game. No self-respecting gamer will play this because it will completely lack any strategy. It will be an exercise in chaos, and will fail. And to top it off, all that investment in servers will be in vain.

I think online shooters have been around long enough for us to find a balance point between # of players and fun. Too many people on a map just mean lots of spawn camping, cheating, immaturity and stupidity. None of that sounds like fun.

NOT at first that's for sure. It'll have to break itself in into the gamers and tweak itself from there on in. In a year or so of it's release we can truly see wether it has failed or not

Something that i noticed in team games in halo is that there is always someone who doesn't even try teamwork and does everything by themselves. Also it seems like their is always some kind of argument going on.

I don't see the difference between MAG and any other online MP match to be honest. OMG there si 256 players. So what when you are still divided and you won't be matching skills with the other 255 players. You 8 man squad will be dealing with another 8 man squad. The big difference is you won't have to go to a different match to find a new group.

I hate it when people can't see past the hype.....

"SICK AND TIRED OF ONLY HAVING 64 OVERWEIGHT TEENAGERS SWEARING AT YOU THROUGH MICS???? WELL FEAR NO MORE, WE'RE BRINGING IN ANOTHER 192 OF THESE PEOPLE TO ANNOY YOU!!!!"

Come on people, just because there are more people to kill doesn't necessarily mean it'll be anything more than the generic, run-of-the-mill shooter that its undoubtedly going to be. The developers are more focused on making the servers able to house this many people and not on making it FUN. Heard of FUN, anyone? You know, that little thing you get when you play something not revolving around being teabagged by self-righteous pricks????

I think I've made my point.
If the game didn't have so many anti-douchebag measures, I'd be inclined to agree.

I hope this game succeeds. It's a shooter that's trying something different, which, in this day and age, is like the mythical Sasquatch. And I always liked the idea of an MMOFPS. It's too bad I don't have a PS3... Oh well, here's hoping the roommate I'm getting will have one :D

It's a great concept but I can just see it going wrong in a few ways. One being the organisation of each team and another being connection issues.
I understand your worries but I think connections will be fine. I'm using the wi-fi on my PS3 and I have only been disconnected once from any online games.

On topic: I think it well be a success, probably wont break any sales records but still a success.

Handling a server that big will be difficult, and I doubt it'll be pulled off right. If it does, that's great. If it doesn't, I'll be here on the Escapist. You can tell me how I told you so :]
Naaahhh...just the thought of so many pissed off people because the servers can't handle 256 people is enough to contend me. And Rod Stewart helps make the situation even better...
"Iiiiiiiiiiii wannna know....have you eveeeeeeeeer seen the rain? Iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii wanna know...have you eveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeer seen the rain, comin' down on a sunny day?
Creedance FTW!!

OT: I'd like to think it would, but I do have doubts.

256 people against eachother...
it will end up in extremely much gunfire with mostly friendly fire and annoyed people,
but that is with mostly every large online FPS.
apart from that i think it will be great
