I think most people don't care enough to game on the pc because for people that are not too tech savy the pc is for business/facebook/extremely casual gaming only. I mean let's face it the entry barrier on pc is way too high, even with the BS 600$ gaming computers(that you have to build yourself....yeah, good luck getting the average person to pull that one off) that meganerds seem to boast about it is still the cost of a launch PS3 that works right out of the box with minimal knowledge of anything. So no, either the pc gaming market is just not on the radar of most gamers or those of us that appreciate it aren't willing to go through the trouble I mean seriously, the kind of machine necessary to run something that looks as good like killzone 2 is either too expensive or waaaayyyy too much trouble to build yourself for 600 bucks....which once again is the price of a launch ps3, enough said.
FOrget 600, lets say you need 1000 to 1200 for a good gaming rig, that rig will last you a few years, probably even past the next console launch, all the while getting brand new games for 40-50 bucks, console games start at 60! Need another controller? 60! Console goes fubar? times for a brand new one! A PC had a problem, take out the offending part and replace it, nothing in a PC should run you more than 300 bucks, unless youre builing a PC with video cards strong enough to teleport you into the screen.

what kinda poll is this? anyone with a computer has to know that they can have some kinda of game on it in this day and age.

i have the ps3 and computer next to each other so i can do both at the same time! multitasking! im playing fallout as we speak.

i've noticed that my console takes up most of my gaming time rather than computer

This recently occured to me while talking to some kid in my Junior class. He had no idea games even came out for the PC. I've had this come up several times, even when I was a bit younger.

Do you think most console gamers (excluding anyone on this site of course) know the PC exists?
No, and lets keep it that way.
I suppose so.

I became a console game recently as i cannot afford upgrade costs. I would rather buy one machine every 4 years, and be able to play everything perfectly, than have to buy a new one every 18 months.

Unless the process of purchasing a console game has changed dramatically since I stopped going to brick-and-mortar stores, console gamers who are unaware of the PC as a gaming platform have ignored some pretty obvious entire walls in their game stores, not to mention common cultural knowledge that my grandparents possessed. I don't think that it's unfair to say that you need to be incredibly, unbelievably stupid to not know that games for PC do in fact exist. I think it's far likelier that you are just incredibly bad at detecting sarcasm.
My EB games (all 3 stores) doesn't even really have a wall for PC games.

They have one section of a wall with some pretty shitty looking PC games.

Considering that's where a lot of Console gamers get their gear, I'm not surprised that ones that aren't up on staying well informed about releases haven't realized that PC gaming hasn't completely died out.

What? Of course they do! I mean, most console gamers in general have at least one been in a game store of some sorts.

Console gamers just don't care about PC. PC is for the hard core RTS fan in their eyes and its too expensive and too much work. Most Console gamers want a pick up and play, not spend 4 hours just to find out that you wasted your money.

From my experience, no. A lot of people I've talked to seem to not even know that there was an original Half-Life and Fallout.
Those people fall into the same category as "12 Year Old FBI agents."

Isn't this just yet another thread where PC gamers come and preach to the masses about how inferior consoles are? It's really annoying, because they're also complaining about console fanboys when PC fanboys are pretty much overrunning the console fanboys in numbers and pretentiousness.

But anyway, yes. Console gamers know there are games on the PC. You would need to have missed an entire wall at Gamestop not to have known that.

I was brought up with PC's but the lack of games and poor quality and delayed ports of some games (GTA4 for example) just turned me off recently.. I also got a pretty beefy PC the other year and since then there have been really no decent exclusive titles.. I still end up playing CS or TF2 or something.. pretty much a waste of upgrading

All my friends use the 360 on live all the time and the party system and stuff is fantastic.. yeah sure you can do the same on PC.. but I dont know just seem more comfortable playing on a 360 these days.. the controls on games have really improved in this generation of consoles. I also like that when you go online your in a much more even playing field.

Absolutely not.
