It's one of those things that sounds good in theory but practically speaking there are some potential problems (that others have pointed out).

Seeing as we don't quite know how it will work we'll just have to wait until the game comes out before deciding.

My personal opinion, it'll be somewhat useless for the same reason it was never used in Red Faction (the original this is), which would you rather have?

A- A partial resistance to bullets from one direction but be forced to run up to everyone and bash their brains out slowly?

or

B- USe a long range firearm and just kill them there on the spot with minimal fuss?

I hope that even with it equiped,if some1 with a high powered MG comes close, you wont be able to shield yourself from a thousand bullets spray for long, just like in cs.

Riot shields were kinda lame in CS, not that there was much team play involved in the average pubs.

I saw a couple of vids where there were used very well in a team, but then a simple grenade toss and you were pretty much fucked because you couldn't see it cuz of the shield.

I honestly don't know how it'll work in CoD, it could be useful, but then it could be a "HI! Please shoot me!" sign for snipers.

I see some interesting tactical use for them, yes. Methinks the fandom will probably complain about them for whatever reason, though.

Have you ever played Urban Chaos? The riot shield in that game was a fantastic gameplay element. Probably the best FPS I've played on a console since GoldenEye, funner than Halo by far.

If the only way of killing someone with the shield is meleeing people then it won't work. People on COD are usually selfish killwhores, you can't trust someone not to kill a person you've just put into last stand nevermind asking them to protect you with the shield. Would probably work for things like search and destroy though, but team deathmatch I doubt it.

I will kill anyone in last stand, he still has a gun and is still hostile. It's stupid to leave him rattling off Deagle rounds at anyone he can see until he bleeds out or whatever.

I just hope that the higher power weapons can penetrate the shield. An M60 or a Barret would make short work of a riot shield.

Well some OP content would be nice. Maybe a link, an image, or a couple of lines iterating your thoughts on the subject? Is that too much to ask?

As for me: I think it's great, as long as they don't make them insanely susceptible to the Call Of Grenade spam, they should work fine.

YOu get no gun, and since I play on HC mode, it won't help you much. THat said, there will be dumbasses with marty and riot shields running all over the place if you play on a bad server.

Well if they're implemented well and in a good team they could be useful. Only experience i can recall of them is in uncharted 2's beta in which i tried it once and din't use it again (and then subsequentially got killed by NPC's using them).

It'll make it easier to kill 2 people at once with a RPG/grenade.

Other than that, I might try using it a few spawns. But only with a friend though. I know some jerk is going to try and run in front of it the second he sees an easy kill and completely mess it up for everyone. =/

SMGs and Pistols shouldnt be able to penetrate but rounds from ARs and Snipers should go through

Nothing can stop Riot shields! Bar grenades, RPGs, Choppers, AC-130s, high calibre weapons...

I see nothing wrong with it has long has it won't make you completely invincible(For e.g. you would take 15-20 more shots than a player without the Riot Shield could take) and you'd be forced to use only "light" pistols whilst using it(No desert eagles)
No, you cant use ANY weapons with the shield. Smart move to make the game balanced, but it makes the shield useless.
i heard though that if you get close to an enemy, you can kind of like bash them with the shield. may be a one hit kill may not, but other then the extra damage intake, it would be completely useless.

will still use it though :D

If it's the replacement for juggernaut, I can't say "Yes" enough times to thoroughly express the yes-ness of my statement.

Otherwise, yeah, it's a good idea. From what I've heard, it takes a while to put away, so people won't just rush you with the shield and whip out a shotgun before you can even blink.

WOW that really does make the shield completely useless.

I think it's a good idea as long as it doesn't make you completely invincible and you can't use a perk like juggernaut in addition to the shield.
