It will be decent at best. It won't amaze any of us, but it won't hurt us into bashing it.

they were making a halo movie but i think it's pretty much been cancelled now. they're making a gears movie which i'd like to see if they pull it off. as for bioshock i think it could work as a movie. i'd like to see a prototype movie as i love the story in the game.

btw i think the general view is that movies made from games tend to suck
It's been dropped, but the guy who was doing it has been doin District 9 instead, so maybe Halo will be brought back if thats successful enough.....

no i don?t think you could successfully condense bio shock into a 2 hour movie, that and you wouldn?t be able to create the atmosphere of rapture into such a passive medium

As long as Uwe Boll has absolutely nothing to do with the movie, it might actually have a fair chance at decency.

Would they just retell the story of Jack on a different medium? I dunno it might work as a story driven adventure with the creepy atmosphere. Though it will likely just be a slasher pic where the main character hides from a Rosie and a Bouncer as they kidnap little girls and kill his friends one by one.

Face it, its a movie that is going to be produced in the Hollywood way.
Any game turned movie that is produced by/from Hollywood, always fails.

Do I bring up the horror, yes I shall.
Example 1: DOOM
Example 2: Resident Evil
Example 3: (Not Yet Made, but will) Halo!!!!

No, because:

-It will need a big budget.
-Any leading actors would be subjected to the background due to complex story and setting.
-The story would not work on screen.
-It suffers from being a videogame adaption e.g. the directors and producers won't give a fuck about the fans( who will most likely be most of the audience) and the average viewing public doesn't like videogame adaptions.
-It is perhaps, dare I say it?, a bit too high brow for a movie that would cost $90 million.
-It won't gross enough and would be a failure no matter how good or bad the film is.
-It might do well on DVD/Blu-Ray though.

Not particularly.

I hope it'll be good and as atmsopheric as the game, but really, I doubt it'll be good, just based on the fact that most movies based on video games aren't good.

Still, like I said, I hope it'll be good.

Sorry, it won't work
Bioshock was a great game, but you can't convey that "what's round the corner" feeling as well in a movie. For some things you just need to be in a game. Besides, there is too much violence for it to be a decent movie...you would need to cut out all of the fighting and just leave the plot. A movie based off it could be good, but it would take a whole lot of work. The mind control "would you kindly" would ahve to go though...it would not work as well in a movie.

Kneejerk response, but the whole attraction and enjoyment i got out of the game was the atmosphere, and they did that really well, so hopefully it'll be similar in the film version. I'm basically trying to say it FELT like I was playing a film
There we are. I fixed that for you.

Not necessarily, although Final Fantasy 7 Advent Children was not taken directly from the game, it was still technically made using the game. And in my opinion, was an extremely awesome movie.

I think that if they make it, it will be a dissapointment. Even more so when you think of it being mostly due to it having such high standings amongst the gaming community and will probably get hyped to death.

It also depends on the Director that it will be given to. If they give it to most Hollywood directors, you just know they're going to rip out all the subtlety, ruin the dark atmosphere, add as many explosions as they can on one screen and completely mess up the villian because they're apparently incapable of writing plots that had depth. Either that, or they think thier audience are complete morons who can't even grasp the shallowest of plots.

/ rant.

I'm sorry, but with the way that Hollywood has been going in recent times, it's not looking good.

I can't think of very many films that I've seen in the past year that showed a good amount of depth to them, and I'm finding it even harder to think of any films released that weren't sequels.
