This is why i [didn't] ask 'ARE you a good person ' but ' DO YOU THINK you are a good person'.
I don't know if you are able to tell the difference. The former implies that there is a universal standard for what is good . The latter implies that you have YOUR OWN standards for being good. And my question is [basically] do you meet your own standards.
I covered this to some end as well in my last post. Then I responded to a comment out of context.
There is a point in time in which I talked (on
The Escapist) about choosing between deontological ethical choices (i.e. duty) over consequentialist choices (i.e. pragmatism). Usually it's considered more righteous to choose the former over the latter, though both methods used exclusively are subject to paradox and complications. We try to do
what is right according to a blind moral code, until we see that there is benefit in violating that code. For most of us who are socially well adjusted, it usually takes the benefit of others, or even the benefit of all to violate that code. The classical example is lying to Nazi officials to cover for Jewish war refugees.

Depending on the frequency, this may temper or cease my future participation in the Escapist community. Apologies in advance, if this policy prevents me from replying to you when it is proper to do so.[/footnote]
EDIT: For clean parsing.
PS: My answer to the poll: Meh. I find the US Republican platform selfish, cruel and contrary to civilization. I'm sure they would call me worse names, hence I tend to prefer more accurate qualifiers to describe my moral compass.
