Don't most christian just shout your wrong till ppl follow what they say anyway?
You are remarkably uninformed. You just generalised Christians in the same manner that some atheists often bash Christians for.

Why is this in gaming discussion?
And I don't think you NEED to convert a believer. Like I think a believer needn't convert you.

Converting someone is a bad thing to do if they don't want to be converted. This applies for non-religious people trying to prove that they are right.

People need to think about where they post threads more.

I can't speak for others, but I'll never not believe.

Nothing can change my belief. I "know" God exists.

I'm a Christian myself, but if some stranger on the street tries to force their ideas on me, even if they're Christian, they need to fuck right off.

But I tend to believe that religious views should only be shared with the people you trust and love.

The only person that could and should convert you is... yourself.

No, because it is not my place to do so. A fundamental change such as a change of religion can only really come about from the believer - not me.

"Could" is a very broad question. Yes, I suppose I "could" convert a believer, as a believer "could" convert me. Granted the believer would have to have access to the hundreds of billions of dollars necessary to somehow synthetically create the experience of god literally descending from the sky and telling me that the specific religion is true and I would have to spend years and years presenting scientific evidence that contradicts god until they eventually lose mental resilience and start doubting their beliefs and start actually looking into it themselves. Point is either one is a lot of work for something that doesn't benefit either party. Realistically if you want to convert people you have to prey on the weak undeveloped minds of children, which

I think, regarding atheism, that you may have misunderstood a rather important fact.
Atheists don't "believe" in atheism, as it is not an opinion that requires a belief. On a side note, I'd be surprised if you could convert a truly atheistic individual to religion. I'd bet that almost all "atheists" who were converted either had serious doubts about their position on God, or had strong intuitions regarding God's existence, regardless of the fact that they declared themselves to be atheists.

I think it's much easier to convert a person from one faith to another as it requires less of a stretch of the imagination than it would be to "convert" a religious person to atheism or an atheist to religion.

Wow ......... that is mental.

Now that is pure insanity.

Anyone that can consider anything in that video even remotely normal needs treatment .... or locking up.

For those wondering what happens to any kids in that video that don't do as they are told and succumb to the cult .. er .. religion, see that incredibly large blonde lass .... she eats them.

Thats not McDonalds fat oh no, thats naughty children that haven't done as they are told fat.

Someone might want to tell her that Harry Potter isn't a warlock either .... he's a wizard (yes there is a difference) ..... also he's fictional, he can hardly be sentenced to death when he isn't real .... I love lunatics, they brighten the day with madness.

On Topic.

No.

There is no right or wrong beliefs just those that make you happy.

If following a religion is what makes you happy then would you want to be converted to think otherwise?

The only time a persons beliefs irritate me is when they try and ram it down my throat. I don't care what other people have faith or believe in I don't want to know and like fuck am I going to convert to someone else's faith/belief. I'm quite happy as I am thankyou very much.

regardless if you believe in atheism, chritianity, or haruhism, a bunch of people have basicly been trying to convince me(on this very website) that my beliefs are wrong and chastze me when I try to defend myself (eastern orthodox christian by the way) does anyone seriously believe that if they shout that they are wrong that they will submit to you?
Do you think that this topic will convince some people that they shouldn't try to convert believers? If you don't, why did you make this topic? If you do, what makes changing someone's mind about this different from changing someone's mind about religion?

I think the assumption in any argument/discussion is that the side with the best arguments will win and sway the other's opinion. Unfortunately, that doesn't usually happen. However, that doesn't stop people from trying because:
1) sometimes it works
2) people don't like "backing down" from an argument (especially if they think they can win, because they have the best arguments)

What does this sentence even mean?

X shouts that X is wrong and then submits to you.

Nope, doesn't really work.

Anyway, the question in the title of this topic (because the OP was quite frankly pretty incomprehensible) is way too broad. Yes, I think I "could" convert a believer, but in the same manner that a believer "could" convert me. Technically it could happen, but I'm not going to try to convert anyone and frankly I see the possibility of anyone converting me as quite low (unless they can actually provide me with evidence that their belief is correct). Please also keep in mind that arguing with someone doesn't necessarily mean "trying to (de-)convert them".

Unless you hold a belief for a rational reason which can be debated sensibly there's really no way to argue with it.

I've never seen anyone change their minds due to superior argument, but I've seen a few change them to avoid being mocked

I think I probably could, however that doesn't make it necessary/correct to do so.

No, dude, seriously? Atheism is a lack of a belief.

And no, but the least I can do is make them shut their mouth.
Watch where you put that match, you may start up a flame war. These kind of threads are always a sensitive issue. Besides, if you're asked your religion you would still say atheism, it's the belief in science and a lack of any kind of deity.

ANYWAYS BACK ON TOPIC:
I reckon, with a bit of effort and people who aren't too strong-willed perhaps but the real question isn't if I could but if I would want to - I believe people are entitled to their own views on religion (or lack of them), I mean I always try to encourage some kind of view on god that's still within scientific reason but I don't think I'd want to try and force it on someone,
I mean hell - these days any theist at all gets a bad rep as a zealot who will only yell at you to believe in their god or go to hell - please see above quote of:

For details on the bad reputation we get from the media as overly loud fools who don't consider or respect anybody's opinion.
