I've taken IQ tests that suggest mine is higher than the average.

But I also know that IQ tests are only good for testing how good someone is at IQ tests.

So, really, it could be anything.

Most people generally reply as 'higher' if I recall correctly (for obvious reasons). We generally over-estimate how smart we are compared to other people. And I'm no different, because I'm going to go with higher :p

Pretty much this. According to IQ tests, I have a high IQ. But IQ tests are generally nonsense and moonshine.

I know from long experience I can selectively be crazy brilliant or dumb as a brick, depending on the situation I'm in.

Indeed, amongst my friends, I'm renowned for my terrible mathematical ability.

Seriously, I'm horrible at maths.

I'd probably say lower. I have very little experience in anything, more or less completely non-existing social skills and the things that I am knowledgeable about are few and far between. I certainly wouldn't consider myself intelligent.

I failed Math 11, and barely passed it on the second go around. And compared to my girlfriend, I'm a mathematical prodigy.

However I got 200% in my theater class. Literally 200%.

And I was good enough at English I convinced the teacher to give me an A on a paper I never wrote. I told her she'd lost it, and she believed me, and gave me an A. Because I was so awesome at English.

Also awesome at being a bastard, it seems, even back then.

FUN FACT - That teacher later got fired for 'fraternizing' with a student. In fairness to her, though, she was only in her mid 20's, and he was 19 (and an idiot, still in 10th grade at 19).

Well, eligible for Mensa membership, so, higher. What does that say about me? Not much. Only that I'm better at solving IQ tests than the average person. Not really a skill that I can build into a career...

Way, way higher.
I was elected Queen of Mensa, you know.

OP: I have no idea, I don't hold IQ tests in very high esteem.

InB4 Everyone having an IQ over 160 and being in Mensa.

Surely the point of `average` is that... most people's are the average?

So mine is probably average. I haven't taken an IQ test in god-knows how long cause I'm not really interested.

Naturally higher than average due to my disorder, but to me real intelligence is measured by what you've done with your life, you could have a higher IQ than Steven Hawking but it woun't do you a damn bit of good if you're bagging groceries for a living.

Only 140 here, but as daystar said they don't really mean much beyond you did well on an IQ test and given my utter lack of academic achievement it seems to mean very little indeed.

I'm average. I am however quite interested in academic stuff so I have that advantage, but I am completely lazy about it so meh. I treat it more as a fun thing to do rather then a task which is probably why I perform so crap in exams.

Dunno, it's average I guess. Obviously I'm better in some stuff and worse in others, suppose it evens out.

Kinda like how everyone says that they are middle class no matter their financial situation eh?

OT: I've never really put much stock in iq tests, mainly because I know I am better in certain areas than in others.

I know my IQ is higher than average.

But that really only means I'm good at those kinds of tests.
There are a lot of tasks I'd be really bad at because of my OCD and other stuff. I can be sort of stupid in some ways.
