I think I'm above average, just because I have to deal with the public as part of my job and know just how friggin' dumb they are. But I answered below average to mess with your poll. Take that! Account for trolls, I dare you! Ha hah!

Yeah, But I'm smart enough to know most people think that of themselves, they have to for their self esteem. I'm also smart enough not to depend on myself being smarter. You can't assume people will (or won't) be able to figure out what you have figured out.

Intelligence I've found is a bit like strength, it's just a metric of how quickly you can perform calculations. But just as mechanised machinery has made the physically strong man redundant, computational power has made the intelligent man redundant.

I believe the most valuable mental faculty is wisdom,which I suppose even someone with critically low IQ can have, and I think I'm wise enough to know I am not very wise. Wisdom is a matter of self-discipline, focus in expertise and efficiency.

You can be really mentally quick, but if you think inefficiently and about irrelevant things then it won't do you any good.

I'd think the latter three would represent a more realistic perspective than the former three.

I scored 128 on the Stanford-Binet test in my grade twelve year. Since then I'm sure my IQ has dulled quite abit. I'm not going to admit to being below average but these days feel far away from above average...so I guess what I'm saying is this poll is missing average as an option.

Oh cool. It's this thread again where everybody points out how smart they supposedly are. Seriously, everytime these kinds of threads come up, the overwhelming majority of people call themselves geniuses or post up absurd IQ numbers that supposedly mean something. It's kinda funny, to be honest. But it makes sense because nobody really wants to admit that they might be average or even below it.

Anyway... as for me I refuse to use my own personal bias on this issue. I've spent my entire life being set above the "average" by pretty much everyone who knows me at least a little, and so that is inevitably where I will land. I know that sounds kinda quirky considering what I was saying in that last paragraph, but... i'm only expressing opinions others have given regarding me, rather than what I actually think.

In general knowledge, I think i'm a bit above the average.
In mental soundness (mental imparements/disorders) I think I'm below. I probably have some aspergers, and I know I have restless leg syndrome, and some daydreaming episodes on occasion. Depression too.
But I'm no better than anyone else on Earth.

I differentiate between technical/scientific intelligence and social intelligence (ie. interacting with people).

I'm only somewhat good at the former, and I'm good at understanding tact with the latter, but the actual interaction not so much. But I'll apologize the moment I feel I may have accidentally hurt someone.
